5 out of 5 eggsGreat Printer for Notebooks

Pros: Small footprint, low profile printer is ideal for a college student. Nice color prints and great for research papers

Cons: wish their replacement cartridges were cheaper

5 out of 5 eggsConcur that Printer is great for students

Pros: It's a pretty simple printer, so don't expect it to do amazing things. But if you're a student, on a low budget, this printer seems to be reliable and most importantly, does the job quickly, quietly, and without any problems (so far)

Cons: I'm not sure if they have changed the link, but when you buy this printer, make sure you buy the CORRECT cable. The one that they advertise in "Compatible Upgrades and Accessories" labeled, " GENERIC USB 2.0 Extension Cable, 6FT, AM/ AF, Gray Model 10U2-02106-E - OEM" has the wrong shape for the outlet on the printer. I had to call newegg and ask them to send me the correct, compatible cord...which they did for free...but it was still a bit of a pain.

Other Thoughts: The price of the black and white/color cartridges is pretty decent...especially for a printer that doesn't cost too much.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for students

Pros: Works. Prints pretty good images. Prints images well enough for reports, graphs, charts, web pages, etc. Cheap. Compact. Installed quick and easily. Loads paper in front (saves space). Mine came with black ink.

Cons: Images sometimes print slow. Heavy ink ares (images, etc.) are a little wet right after printing. Would not recomend for anyone who will print images a lot or often. For those people you should buy a more expensive printer.

Other Thoughts: I bought this printer to print short reports (in color sometimes) and for its small size. As a student it perfectly fits my needs and standards. People are complaning that its so cheap, that they need to buy the cable (USB A/B) and a black ink, and that it doesn't do a good job. Well then you should have bought a more expensive printer if you are so picky. I had a USB cable from another printer that I used (most people would) and mine came with black ink. Even if I did not have this , the cable would have cost two bucks and the ink is about fourteen. If your a student and need a printer for papers and such then this printer will fit your needs. Once again HP does a great job in satisfying my needs at a great price.
I also recommend the 3940 over the 3930 because its only ten dollars more and you get better performance overall.

3 out of 5 eggsCheap

Pros: Easy to set up, automated software install. Can see individual cat hairs in the test image I printed.

Cons: Large-ish footprint (paper feeds into the front of the printer) and USB cable not included. The setup instructions suggest the black print cartridge is sometimes not included. Picture isn't very bright, but what do you expect for this price?

4 out of 5 eggsHP 3940

Pros: This is a good printer for occasional printing. Have purchased about 10 of these for classrooms. The two replacement cartridges can cost as much as the printer. Easy to install. Make sure that you have your own USB cable!

Cons: Not for heavy use, will jam. With printers, you get what you pay for.

4 out of 5 eggsOk printer works like its supposed to.

Pros: Its cheap and it works what more can you want for forty pesos. It hasn't jammed and it operates just fine in an Automotive Repair Shop. The air in that place could choke a horse. My cust. is comp. illiterate but very happy that hes had no probl.

Cons: none unless the price goes up.

Comments: Within 15 minutes of installation I had 5+ paper jams just trying to get the thing to print a test page. Since then it SEEMS to be doing better... Not sure I recommend this printer.
