5 out of 5 eggs2 Year Review...

Pros: I bought this SAME printer OVER 2 year ago & it STILL works fine.

Sorry NewEgg - but I bought it locally. You STILL R-O-C-K.

In the 2 years I have owned this, I have only had 1 case where more than 1 sheet of paper fed thru the machine at the same time & have NEVER had a PAPER JAM (NOT YET anyway)!

I use this printer in a home office & do intensive graphics & text and I get between 500-800 pages for graphics & about 800-950 for text PER Laser Cartridge for which I pay roughly $34.00 for 2 cartridges (GREAT DEAL). This is on the (INK SAVER MODE - Under Properties). It works with Envelopes (depending on the thickness) & even works with 3x5" index cards & 3.5x5.5" & 4x6" labels - which is nice. I haven't tried it with transparencies as of yet, so I don't know...

I have this printer hooked up to 2 PC's (BOTH RUNNING AT THE SAME TIME). One running Windows 98SE thru the LPT Port & 1 PC using Win 7 (64 bit) thru the USB Port. The OS picked up the printer & installed the Drivers f

Cons: No USB cable - But Hey... They are SO CHEAP now-a-days so who REALLY cares...

I wish I had bought a few more (Like 2 OR 4) of these printers. Or that Samsung didn't stop making these printers. Little did I know HOW MUCH I'd end up loving this printer.

If I remember correctly - it only cost me $60.00 (BRAND NEW). What a steal...

And HOW DUMB was I???

Other Thoughts: ONE THING PEOPLE SHOULD BE AWARE OF...

On a LOT of the NEWER PRINTERS (BOTH Laser AND Ink-Jet), the manufacturers have included a Built-In Chip that tells the printer whether or NOT the cartridge is an OFFICIAL Cartridge or NOT. If it is NOT an OFFICIAL Cartridge - the chances are it is NOT going to work. Some printers do NOT have this chip & will work with ANY 3rd Party Cartridge. Luckily, this is ONE of those printers that DOES NOT have this chip... Luckily, for me anyway...

HEY, SAMSUNG...

DON'T STOP MAKING THESE PRINTERS!!!

They are GREAT!!!

3 out of 5 eggsNot worth it.

Pros: Cheap. Good print quality.

Cons: Breaks. Expensive ink.

Other Thoughts: The toner cartridges are freaking expensive and don't last that long. The overall build is okay, but the controller board gave up the ghost after only a couple years.

This is pretty annoying, because in the past, I could have spent around 5x as much on a printer that would last 10x as long. I'm now inclined to buy old HP printers.

5 out of 5 eggsGood printer for price

Pros: The printer is great for our home use. Use it occasionally to print documents etc. The printer turns on fast and prints in a zippy. Could not pass the deal for $50 during new year sale at NewEgg. NewEgg is the best for great deals.

Cons: none so far.

1 out of 5 eggstotal garbage!!!

Pros: prints well, like a laser should.

Cons: bought first one, after a couple of months the heater wouldn't shut off and it melted itself.

Sooo, like a fool I bought a second one($50). This one printed exactly two pages, then won't print anything any more. Just pumps the paper through. Paper not hot, so another heater fail in opposite way.

Other Thoughts: avoid, avoid, avoid. Please Newegg, drop this product like a rock that it is.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Furious : )

Pros: Small Foot-print
Crisp Printing
Quick Printing
Easy Manual Collating
Good Starter Package
It prints about 20 pages a minute
Lower cost printing then Ink Jets very
Toner saver Feature

Cons: I don't see any real cons here. The toner is a little pricey tempting some to buy second hand cartridge. The Samsung print cartridges are embed with a chip that tells the printer when it is out of toner. A refurbished cartridge does not get new chips. I killed three printers back to back because I was buying refills.

Other Thoughts: This is a good economical printer, far cheaper to print with then the high dollar ink jets. I can not afford ink jet( or their ink ) anymore.
I have been printing manuals all day now I have to glue them all up now, my break was to right to all you guys there now for a coffee and back to it. Do yourself a favor buy real Samsung toner cartridges. Install the drivers fist, then when you disconnect the USB turn the PC off before you plug it back in, or don't play musical chairs with your ports,PC don't think but you do isn't that great?

5 out of 5 eggsGoodness Sakes Aulives

Pros: I went to Samsung ( is that how you spell it?) Downloaded thee Winders 7 driver click on *.exe a wham bam it printed out the prettiest sharpest picture I half did seen. I am now putting a sign up at the end of the road advertising my new printing press. My wife said we should now stake the dog in the back so they wont scare off the business. So I am doing that too, I think I might should get a new cable, they eat right though em in a month or so.

Cons: I may need to move the dogs back further from the house maybe even back they next to the creek. Cause they make such a claber yellping and all that when they hear a truck going down the road, this might scare off all my new business. do ya think, OMGosh one of my best meainest dog a mix of rot wilder caught a tire last week, that was not pretty thing to behold at all.

Other Thoughts: I would put my sing way bit highter so it wont get stollen yea I think that too. I am so glad that gave us one these computers

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent printer

Pros: This is fast dependable printer. I own five (5) of these printers. Two of these get very heavy use and have not had a single problem. Cheap to operate and very fast printing. Why buy anything else if all you need is B/W printing?

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: fast hookup....no hassles

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Installed instantly on Windows XP Pro SP3. Easy set up. compact, quiet, fast. In the end though the print quality is most important and it is great. Quality is good enough for professional use where black and white is all that is needed but the cost per print is so low that it is also great for personal use.

Cons: None as of this time.

Other Thoughts: Does not come with a USB cable. This is standard that the USB is not included with most printers. I mention it only because I overlooked that as other might. USB are so inexpensive that if you do not have one you can get one for a couple of bucks.

Initial print cartridge says good to 1000 prints but that will depend on what your are printing. The more "stuff" on a page - graphics, words, photos, etc.. - the more ink that will be used so your mileage will vary. This again is a basic fact common to all printers.

I would recommend this printer to family, friends, and business associates looking for a low cost but very good quality laser black and white printer.

2 out of 5 eggscheapest laser

Pros: cheapest laser printer you can get and does the job fo like 6 months or so

Cons: toner goes bad after 1000 pages or so
refilling it wont fix it it is just gone, vertical lines all over.

the printer jams easily so I have to be carefull how I feed it.

Other Thoughts: I had 2 or 3 of these and they last around 6 months as a good printer after that sell it and get a new one. you can always find these on sale here and there for 30-50$ after rebate.

I would say do yourself a favor and spend 150$ and get a more reliable printer.
I have called samsung and they do pay for shipping costs etc but still it is a hassle.
