Pros: After three weeks, I'm extremely happy with this multifunction printer! My favorite features include: excellent fax, scanning, and printing speed; great optical character recognition (though scanning C code is error prone); the automatic document feeder is fantastic; it works with my Windows and Mac systems; and the front panel controls are very easy to use.
Cons: It's bigger than the 7820N that I wanted to buy, but worth it for the higher scanning and printing resolutions. The ADF sometimes makes slight crimps or dog-ears at the page top. There is a clicking sound after printing - sounds like the heated rollers are cooling against a tight-fitting plastic part (a minor annoyance not worth dinging it a star.)
Other Thoughts: Some of my enthusiasm may be for the multifunction concept itself - I can't tell because I lack experience with comparable units from other vendors. Both UPS and FedEx in Northern VA are reliable and friendly.

Pros: Physical setup of the machine was painless. Worked out of the box as I expected. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to my friends or family.
Cons: The software hung during driver install. But after I manually installed the drivers, it continued with no more errors. Probably caused by me having the printer plugged in during install.
Other Thoughts: Just like any other laser printer, it is slow to warm. But once it gets there, it is fast.

Pros: printer is quick as hell with nearly all prints
the fax is fine. fast enough, dosen't blast you with the fax sounds
network ability is awsome. it will get it's on IP [through DHCP] when you plug the ethernet in to your Router. my MAC and XP machine can BOTH print to it so easily.
the copier is lightning fast like a regular copy machine.
Cons: scanner functionality is lacking. has a would-be-cool feature that FTPs file when you scan it, but doesn't work all the time. can't scan to PC with a mac. the computer can initiate the scan, but that is all.
documentation is seriously limited
the configuration webpage for the machine is a joke, but its comforting to know you're actually updating the device via a website. the page barely has any options. wouldn't it be nice to have all the options there? well, somebody at Brother cut the funding to that part of the project!
Other Thoughts: despite all this negativity, the device is awsome, and i think you should buy one. forget inkjet multifunction devices. LASER!!!

Pros: Really fast, i was not excpecting it to be this fast. I think they really do mean 30PPM. Addon tray option, toner is priced decently.
Cons: 1,000+ Watts peak power, legal paper tray stick out of the back of the unit once you expand the tray.
Other Thoughts: I have yet to use the scan features which was a major reason for getting this unit.

Pros: Great price and tons of features. Prints very fast and operates like a much more expensive machine.
Cons: The scanning software is old and scans PDF's to a much older version than what is available. This results in very large files. It should have a download to scan to new versions of Adobe.
Other Thoughts: Does anyone know if there is an upgrade available for the software or alternative software available that scans to a new version of Adobe?
