5 out of 5 eggsGet this

Pros: Brother printers are where it's at. Their ink is so much cheaper than the competition's. They've got all the features you need. This printer works great with Windows, MacOS, and Linux (thanks to Brother open-sourcing their drivers).

Cons: Brother inkjet printers (I've owned several) tend to not last as long as other brands (3 years vs 4-5 years). In then end you do save money even though you have to buy a printer more often because of the ink cost savings.

Other Thoughts: When I bought this I didn't think I'd care that it can attach to a switch on my network in addition to USB to my PC. But wow, it is so convenient to not have to have a "Printer PC" that has to be on for other computers in the network to be able to print.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but ...

Pros: Compact size paper not exposed to dust. Good print quality.

Cons: As of now replacement ink cartridges are pricey. Very pricey compared to my Cannon 3000i printer.

Other Thoughts: Since this is a multifunction printer, copier, fax machine it has telephone line jacks or the left side at the back. The printer and lan port are buried inside instead of next to the phone jacks. This arrangement eats up about a foot and a half of the printer and lan cable.

3 out of 5 eggsOK Printer

Pros: Great deal on ink. Networking is awesome, and seems to do everything I can throw at it. Picture quality is pretty good. Having a scanner that can feed multiple pages has worked out great. Clearing Jams seems pretty strait forward.

Cons: It is a good thing clear jams is pretty strait forward, because you will be doing it. For the first 3 months I didn't have any problems, than it started happening, my paper pulls to one side, pictures and prints are all off center. I went through the machine with a flashlight and couldn't find anything. Yellow reports being empty even though I just changed it. I pulled the yellow, and reset it. I release the tension on the hold paper, and so far it is working again. These are more problems than I would expect on a new printer.

3 out of 5 eggs1 problem

Pros: This is a great little MFC for the reasons others have stated. Linux does setup nice. Love the network connection. Cheap to use. Nice and small (too small).

Cons: A little slow and lower print quality, but still great for the price. However, I have been using this printer for the better part of a year and now decided to run business cards through it. Now I am shopping for another printer. The paper path on this printer is too tight for stiff paper, sheets of biz cards and labels -- it jams every time.

Other Thoughts: Before this brother printer, I had a larger/taller version and liked it very much (printed everything). After a couple of years it died. I was so happy with that Brother Printer, I bought this MFC 465cn. I would rather have my old one back, but for a basic network printer the 465 is ok. If you intend to print card stock and stiff paper, look careful at all the printers paper path. If the printer is too short, the paper may have to bend to tight to print.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly!

Pros: I have this set up as a network printer and it works wonderfully. Just set it to a static IP and it was good to go. Drivers are a painless install. Ink is CHEAP! <3

Cons: I wish I didn't have to pull out the drawer to load the paper, but no big deal.

Other Thoughts: Would definitely recommend these printers for casual home use.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased

Pros: Very wonderful All-in-One printer to replace an HP OfficeJet 4110 that popped an internal spring in its mechanism. Printer arrived in only 2 days as well! Easy setup with instructions to connect to the local network through Ethernet. For any future printing needs, Brother will always come first.

Thank you Newegg for your great sale on this product. I look forward to purchasing from your company again in the near future.

Cons: None at this time.

5 out of 5 eggsGood printer and value

Pros: This printer was an upgrade from an MFC-210c, so I was very familiar with its features and quality which is very good. The scan and print quality is good and as with my previous unit, uses relatively little ink and the cartridges are not too expensive. This model has a good design and layout with improved photo features and access such as a slot on top of the paper tray for photo paper.

Cons: Printing is not that fast but is not really a problem for home use and occasional print jobs.

Other Thoughts: A very good multi-function printer and scanner and an excellent value for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic All-in-one machine

Pros: Overall great machine. I've been very pleased with the functions offered with this machine and the overall performance of it. Was easy to connect to my PC and I've had zero problems with anything. It may not be the fastest machine out there, but for the price, I give it an AAA+++ and then some.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Prints border-less photos on glossy photo paper that look fantastic!

5 out of 5 eggsNo "Security" Chips for Ink

Pros: Plug it into your wireless router and print wirelessly from your laptops. The ink cartridges don't have "security" chips in them. So you can just refill them or replace them with generics. In quantity, you can get a set of 4 cartridges for about $7 (shipped). It will not be long before the Big Box stores make it illegal for this printer to exist!

Cons: S.l.o.w. photo printing. Only 4 colors means a smaller gamut (still very good quality). Very small paper capacity. Confusing bypass tray mechanism.

Other Thoughts: Brother is phasing out this unit for the newer model, which addresses the slow photo printing. While the new unit uses different cartridges, they do not have chips in them, either. I have converted 10 people from their former printers (this whole printer was nearly less than what they had been spending on ink). Since everyone has the same printer now, I just stock up on generic ink and everyone is happy.
