5 out of 5 eggsSolid, cheap, and it works!

Pros: Cheap. No drivers to load under WinXP Pro. Sound is sufficient for 2-channel stereo. Did I mention this card was cheap??

Cons: Was worried a bit when it didn't fill up the entire PCI slot...Worked like a charm though.

Other Thoughts: With Newegg shipping and pricing, this was a hard card to pass up. Installed it in an older machine for a client to get basic sound to work. It does it's job. If you are an audiophile, you aren't looking at this price point anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsNice card to add sound to an old computer

Pros: Sounds good once it is installed. Runs on Windows 95. Has line in, mic, line out, rear out, and MIDI/Gamepad ports. Mine was based on a CRYSTAL 4281 not a 4280 and it did have a CD ROM connector, though I haven't tried it yet.

Cons: Hard to install in Windows 95, because I had DirectX 3.0 installed and the drivers kept crashing, finally I found help on IBM's website (some ThinkPad models use this same chipset) and upgraded to DX5 to make it all work.

Other Thoughts: Works perfect for simple sound addition to an old computer. Machine is a Pentium 133MHz with 64MB of RAM running Windows 95 Service Pack 1.

2 out of 5 eggstwo out of four?

Pros: Low price, ease of installation. Windows immediately recognized it and the drivers installed with no problem.

Cons: No signal comes out of the front speaker (green) connection.

Other Thoughts: After struggling for a day or longer, it occurred to me to connect the speakers to the rear. This worked. Since I only have two speakers, that's ok. But I am assuming the card to be defective. Given the price, it's not worth returning. It works well enough as it is, except for static-like noise at higher than medium sound level. When I tire of that, I will have to replace it with a better card.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat if all you want is desktop sound

Pros: Snapped it into my free PCI socket and Windows already had the drivers for it, didn't even need to run a wizard.

Cons: Well, not a 7.1 sound card, but you should know that already, and if that's what you want you wouldn't be looking at this ANYWAY.

Other Thoughts: Other people seemed to have problems with this, I guess I lucked out on my first try.

3 out of 5 eggsCheap...but you get what you pay for

Pros: Good price...and it plays Windows sounds just fine.

Cons: Item delivered in box is NOT what is shown on the box. Item DOES NOT have a CD-AUDIO plug anywhere on the card while the box (and pics here) show otherwise.

Other Thoughts: If you don't mind the lack of cd-audio capability, this is a fine choice.

4 out of 5 eggsCan you mess up a sound card?

Pros: Its cheap, if you are just looking to add some sound to your system then this is a good buy.

Cons: There have been a few times that i have heard a poping sound with my older speakers, which work fine with my other sound card.
