4 out of 5 eggsvery fast recording

Pros: fast startup- SD card recording HD 16 gb cards (recccomend a-data 16 gb sd card) and gets about 1 hour of true hd recording, small form factor fits in pocket, and low power consumption and cheap battery packs..

Cons: uses mjpeg uncompressed video format need large HD, but burns flawlessly with nero to dvd's

Other Thoughts: I am saving important video on my TB HD, newegg should lower its price as I got mine for 280 bucks shipped, from another retailor. it is last years moedel.

5 out of 5 eggsGood, but gray market item

Pros: Excellent camera

Cons: Newegg sells the gray market version. Received mine today and it has the euro plug on the charger. Real pain as the charger has a cord, with the euro plug while the U.S. version plugs directly into the wall.

Other Thoughts: Surprised at the gray market item. Normally gray market is around $50 less. I bought it here at a higher price expecting a U.S. version. And yes, it's a euro camera, was set to pal, distance in meters, etc.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Camera!

Pros: 10X optical zoom. Nothing comes close to that in this size. This is a tiny camera packed with features! The LCD rotates, so you can take self portraits easily, or hold the camera over your head and know exactly what you're shooting. The video is very high quality, and the sound is great (my recordings of street musicians are like mp3 quality, plus video). The optical image stabilization works very well for both pictures and video. The face detection and auto focus keep your images sharp. The camera has a lot of different shooting modes, auto works very well. The time-to-shoot when you turn it on is very fast, and the lag time when you hit the button is very low. It is very durable and scratch-resistant thanks to the stainless steel body- it looks brand new after constant use while traveling. The charger works with European power without any mods being necessary.

Cons: I haven't yet been able to get a battery status reading- just the warning when it runs low.

Other Thoughts: I bought this camera for a 2 week trip to Europe. The camera allowed me to really capture what I was looking at, not everything around it. I used 3 8GB Kingston SD cards, and took back 20GB of media shooting constantly. I had 2 batteries, and I would typically need to swap 3/4 through the day. Keep in mind that the thing was constantly in use. The camera has adequate wide-angle for interior shots and self portraits and "couple" shots, but there are thinner cameras if that's all you need. Get this if you want maximum shooting power in the smallest possible package.

5 out of 5 eggsNothing like this

Pros: Great 1280X720 video, with sound. Able to zoom while shooting video. Also, you can pick 2 different quality levels at this resolution. Still Image quality is very good as well. Nice and small HD video camera that fits in your pocket.

Cons: Easily the biggest complaint, I cannot switch from 4:3 to 16:9 modes easily. ALL video I want to shoot will be in the 16:9 mode. ALL the still I want to shoot at 4:3 because shooting a still image at 4:3 is just throwing pixels away that normally would be in the picture. Take a movie, then a still without having to switch the aspect ratio. In a way, the aspect ratio controls both the still and video always. HD is not very compressed, but an 8gig card gives 28 minutes of video at the highest resolution. Using LP mode 1280X720 gives around 55 minutes, so that is not really that bad.

Other Thoughts: There is really nothing close to this camera, short of the Sanyo HD2, but that camera has no stabilizer and terrible audio quality, and is a funny shape.

5 out of 5 eggsWay cool

Pros: May be the Hooly-Grail of cameras. The future of cameras may be like this. Too many to list.

Cons: There seems to be some artificial limit of 60 min or 4 gigs for a video clip. In HD mode, the device sucks up lots of memory and battery life (it does a lot to). Fix these problems without quality loss and this may be the last Camera OR Camcorder you will need!

Other Thoughts: The opposite cameria is the Sony HDR-CX7. Very compact, records video to flash memory, etc. A top quality HD camcorder with a good camera built in.

5 out of 5 eggsone word WOW!

Pros: Super excellent HD recording quality. It is similar to a hollywood recording.

Crystal clear pictures.

Good size.

I guess i will not using my s2 is anymore...=)

Cons: Hard to hold if you have big hands for some people.

LCD is a bit small.

Nothing else i can think of.

Other Thoughts: I recommend this camera to anyone. HD Video and camera-all-in-one! I would finally put this thing in my jean pocket if i ever go anywhere without lugging my hugh s2 is around.

This camera is perfect for its size and portability to carry around on trips.

Feels kind of heavy for small camera but it is very solid to hold. Canon has build this one very high quality.

and of course has the BEST prices!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Gadget Heads Like Me

Pros: This camera is in a word cool. It does a great job of taking stills and video and both came out better than I expected. You can take still photos while you are in videoing. If you a still shot while videoing, each frame of the video is actualy a still photo that can be pulled out of the shot within the provided software (although I haven't tried this out myself yet). This camera brings the mini hybrid camera to a new level. Finally I can zoom in while I'm taking a video, and what an awesome zoom for such a small camera. Comes with a sound recorder that can be used to record anything you want including adding voice notes to your shots. I could keep going but I only have 1000 words allowed. Lets just say it has way more features than I expected and all in all I am one happy gadget head.

Cons: The ergonomics of the camera take a little bit of getting used to. In fact I was thinking I made a bad purchase at first. Then I realized that when you turn on the camera and when the lens pops out, it acutally makes the camera more comfortable to hold. You might not like this camera if you have thick fingers or extra large hands because the control buttons are very small. The camera is heavier than you'd expect for its size but in some ways this makes if feel more solid in you hand. It is obvious that this is a glimpse into the future of hybrid cameras and although Canon did a good job with it, I seems like they have a lot of refinments that they will make to this camera the next go round. But I'm happy they didn't wait and decided to launch this model none the less. It's not perfect but it blows away any other mini camera I've owned.

Other Thoughts: You will want to buy an 8 GB SDHC card because it burns up memory fast in HD video mode and you will be very happy you that you have the extra space. I bought a 8GB Kingston at Newegg for $123 with tax and shipping. Also I recommend an extra battery for those times when you are doing a lot of video shots. Video eats up battery time quickly and the battery takes a while to recharge.

Don't bother buying the case Newegg packages with the camera it is WAY too big for the camera. I bought a nice Case Logic case that has a separate zip pouch where I can hold an extra battery and an extra memory card. My case fully loaded actually fits inside of the Newegg case with room to spare.
