Excellent HD Video Camera
- Pros: I love this little pocket video camera, it comes in very handy at times. Can caputre within seconds.
It supports SD and SDHC cards up to 32GB, you will need to upgrade the firmware that can be downloaded free from the Kodak site. The firmware upgrade is for 32GB support. With 720p at 30fps and 60fps it look perfect on a HDTV. It includes HDMI, A/V and USB cables. The picture quality is not bad either, for some quick picture shots its not bad, but I would rather use my phone as it has better quality. Theres a reviewer on here said that its not for Windows, I don't see why it wont be, I only use Windows and I have no problem with it. The video files is in QuickTime (MOV) format, works fine on Windows XP. This camera I would say its good for the fun of it, not for real videograhers. The software is also not bad, joining the videos is pretty good with the software.
- Cons: - Not that great in low light, theres lots of cameras though also don't look great in low light anyways.
- Would have been great if it came with a built in or clip on light. (I might buy a light or something and try it). - The microphone should have been better though.
- Other Thoughts: - I recommend using class 4 SDHC cards.
- 16GB or 32GB (as the files become pretty large) - Also best to have more then one card. - More then one set of batteries would be good too.
Get 2500mAH Rechargeables !
- Pros: Do yourself a huge favor and buy 4# of 2500mAH NiMH AA batteries and a charger (MAHA-PowerEx, LaCrosse or Panasonic brands). Make sure the charger will charge any combination of 1 to 4 AA and AAA size batteries.
- Cons: Stay away from the KLIC-8000 Li-Ion types of rechargeable batteries because the manufacturers (Kodak, too) *won't tell you the power capacity* of their batteries. NiMH type batteries have a proven track record of long and reliable use. Keep far away from Energizer and Duracell brand batteries and their chargers.
- Other Thoughts: Don't use any charger mode that promises to charge *any* battery in less than 2 hours. This fast of a charge will surely destroy your batteries in a relatively low number of recharges. For devices like cameras that people tend to let sit on a shelf for months at a time then get used heavily (birthday parties and such), you might consider getting the Acculoop/Imedion/Eneloop types of "low (self-) discharge" batteries. These newer NiMH battery types have about 80% of the charge capacity of the standard NiMH batteries, but will "self-discharge" very little when not being used for very long times (many months).
Windows Unfriendly
- Pros: Small, holds a bunch of video on a 16g sdhc card. Takes ok quality pictures.
- Cons: Saves movie files in Mov. files. WMM and Vegas incompatible.
- Other Thoughts: Only buy if you have a mac. If anyone wants to buy mine look at craigs.
