The AG-DVC60 delivers all the features a professional could want, in a comfortable, familiar form. The rugged, lightweight carbon fiber alloy body sports midnight black matte finish, and rock-solid, shoulder-mount stability, an adjustable viewfinder, 18 shutter speeds, and exceptional image quality. The AG-DVC60's wide-angle, 16X optical zoom lens gives you dramatic effects, and its top-quality audio capabilities include XLR mic/line inputs and two manual level controls. It comes standard with terminals for connecting an optional stereo gun microphone and XLR-type mic/input terminals for connecting either a hand microphone or line recording. Full auto and manual shooting, whatever you need at the moment!

For shooting comfort, slide the large, field-spec viewfinder to one side and lock it in place. Multi-functional lens ring controls zoom, focus, and aperture. A full-sized microphone is set at the top of the camera, above the lens for capturing the sound from in front of the camera.

Use the color LCD monitor and viewfinder at the same time. When using the viewfinder for shooting, face the LCD monitor forward, and your subject can use it as a monitor while speaking or conducting an interview. Zero-Lux Infrared Mode gives you superlative performance at night, so you’ll be ready to shoot, whenever you get the call! The AG-DVC60 lets you take your career to new heights.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb

Pros: Camera is easy to use, rugged, and above all, takes great video. I researched the price range heavily and the DVC60 beat out the Canons and Sonys in *this price range* and the next tier. Low light mode is great, controls are simple for regular shooting, color is beautiful. Price is awesome (under $2500 at retail).

Cons: OK, controls are simple for regular shooting, but accessing some more esoteric functions means navigating the menus. You can assign functions to user keys, but it's not too intuitive. It's well suited for shoulder mounted shooting, but a little larger than I'd imagined.

Other Thoughts: Everyone wants the next step. This camera has been a joy to use, but I'm now debating whether to get the DVX100B or another DVC60 (two cameras really help when shooting).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera For the Money

Pros: Briefs:----
Great image quality. Video quality as good as XL1. Shoots great in low light recording. Solid Consruction, well balanced.
XLR audio inputs for pro audio.
16X optical Zoom with manual audio levels for both channels.
Clients think it's a $10K camera
Details:---
I shoot a variety of things and I've used this camera for weddings including extremely dark candlelight ones and the footage looked better than the actual wedding looked in real life. Pitch black darkness is black, not grainy.
I've used it on a 15X12 Green screen set that also included a floor and this 3CCD camera really chromakeys well.
I've shot a variety of car scenes and stunts and the footage is simply great. I've had it on top of a car at 75mph during a very hard winter wind and it performed flawlessly.
The XLR jacks open you to near endless audio possibilities.

Cons: It's not as sharp as the $5000 XL2 nor other much more expensive cameras but it offers more than anything anywhere close to it's price tag.
I wish it had a manual zoom ring. The adjustable electronic zoom does a great job, though.
Some controls are a little awkward but part of that is I am used to Sony.
Auto white balance doesn't always work perfectly indoors, depending on lighting. Sony AWB seems better.

5 out of 5 eggsPanasonic AG-DVC60

Pros: I love this camera! The images look awesome and the manual controls give you even more shooting flexibility. The shoulder mounted form gives you a very professional look, crucial for wedding and event work. Everyone that sees me with this thing on my shoulder knows that I mean business, everyone comments on how cool it looks. This camera looks bad to the bone and delivers footage to back up the look. I LOVE IT!!!!!

Cons: This camera has more manual features than I was used to using, so there was a some learning curve. That isn't really a con on the camera, more of a con on me. I wish this camera had 48v phantom power for condenser mics. XLR inputs are awesome at this price range, but phantom would have been nice too.

Other Thoughts: I still wake up every morning thrilled that I bought this camera. I am very happy with the purchase and higly recommend the DVC60 to anyone who wants to turn heads shooting and please clients visually in the entry to mid-level videography segment.
