Close, but not quite there
- Pros: Excellent easy to use controls. Buttons are big enough that you're not fighting them. Simple to offload video to your computer or display on a TV. Decent low-light picture (if you can see halfway clearly, then the video will be clear). The tripod socket is a nice touch.
- Cons: The CODEC stumbles and creates stutter when there's motion. For instance, if you slowly pan the camera, you'll get a stutter every half second or so. Really a shame because if you keep the camera still, there's a nice picture.
While the camera has some heft to it, the construction is not all that sturdy, particularly weak-looking when you're taking the battery cover off or putting it back on (little tiny tabs, very thin). The lanyard is a nice sturdy plastic-covered cable, but attaches to the camera with cheap nylon cord (why?) and there were no instructions for connecting the lanyard (did I do it right?).
- Other Thoughts: There's so much to like - the form factor, viewing screen, and controls are as perfect as I can imagine on point-and-shoot video camera, BUT... the stuttering video reminiscent of cheap cellphones puts me off. Best advice I can give is to search for online reviews that link videos and you'll see what I mean.
Bought mine from a retail outlet (not newegg, silly me!)as an impluse the day before a vacation. I'm seriously considering returning it after the trip.

- Cons: menu is very limited & only allows you to edit date & time. no quality setting controls. video stutters when panning & audio is out of sync.
- Other Thoughts: I admit I only just received this today & had a chance to do a few minute-long test videos, but just from those few videos, the other reviewer is accurate when he says there is a stutter when panning, and I found that the audio is out of sync by several seconds.

Overheats on charge
- Pros: Works with Windows and Mac (not tried) and does generally what it claims quite simply. Also accepts regular batteries.
- Cons: I can not get the battery to charge as it "overheats" and goes into pause mode. Also, without an extension cable to put into a USB port the unit is virtually not dockable. A cord is cheap but not supplied. I am getting tired of seeing the red light blinking and no way to charge the battery. There is no external charger for the unit. You also can't see the screen and any messages about charging because when plugged into a portable computer the screen faces down- you need a usb extender cable.
- Other Thoughts: Company is issuing an RMA- perhaps the next one won't overheat.
Ok I figured out the problem

- Other Thoughts: Ok i figured out the initial problem with the video stuttering every couple seconds...if you just copy video to your computer directly via drag/drop, copy/paste, it gives bad results. If you use the Flipshare software that comes with it, all works well.
