4 out of 5 eggsGood but Annoying

Pros: Very intuitive and easy to use compared to other small business accounting packages.

Your data stays on your machine (unlike the web services that have been heavily pushed)

Helpful user community.

Cons: Quickbooks... PLEASE stop trying to sell me add-on packages ALL THE TIME!!! At times I feel like I'm using an interactive infomercial instead of an accounting package.

Other Thoughts: Even with the nuisance of the software trying to suggestively sell you checks, payroll services, credit card processing, and anything else remotely related to the software it is still, by far, the best small business accounting package on the market.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat product

Pros: I've had ZERO issues with this software and cannot figure out why all the other reviewers are having so many issues.
No issues installing
No issues registering
Ease of Use
Multitude of Features
Downloads my AMEX bill directly into quickbooks

Cons: The only con I have is pricing between the download version and retail. If anything, the download version should be cheaper, not 50% more...

Other Thoughts: I've had zero issues so far. Every works as advertised. As for the spam issues the other keep referring to, they are oversensitive. Quickbooks asks you if you print checks, and offers to help get you set up with compatible checks. They offer once, and no more. If you can't handle one sales pitch, get a life.

2 out of 5 eggsGet More Ads with Quickbooks 2010

Pros: It works with Windows 7 64. It's Quickbooks. Upgraded successfully from Quickbooks Pro 2001 to this version. The GUI looks and feels very nice. Accountants love the sexy charts and graphs!

Cons: Intuit needs your phone, e-mail, mailing address, note from your high school principal, etc. to register via internet. Maybe phone registration doesn't require this.

There are a RIDICULOUS amount of ads for other Intuit products in this software. Many "features" in the menu system are actually ads. The "Home" screen even has a toolbar filled with ads! The whole product has a sketchy, shareware feel to it. I'd expect this from something free, but not a hundred dollar piece of software.

Why Intuit? Why can't we be civil? You know we need your software, why can't it be a more pleasant experience?

Other Thoughts: What are you going to do? Your accountant says you need this, so there really is no choice. Gnucash? Good luck with that.

My money to the first Quickbooks clone/alternative that doesn't try to sell you things!

If I find a way to hide the ads, it gets +2 stars.

1 out of 5 eggsFails install

Pros: Can't find any

Cons: Heavily dependent on third party installs if they are missing the product won't install. The product fails to tell you what is missing so determining what is needed is nearly impossible. There appears to be a transfer of your data to intuit over non-http protocol that must be enabled to work. Intuit was unable to tell me why these were needed or how to resolve the problem. Brand new out of the box and it won't work, complete waste of money and if my accountant wouldn't insist on the product I'd demand my money back

5 out of 5 eggsSuccessful Upgrade from Pro 2007 version

Pros: Installed as an upgrade to the 2007 version. Installation proceeded uninterrupted and completed without incident. All company data was carried forward. Master file converted correctly. Payroll module was recognized and registered. Installation process was a little over 10 minutes.

Cons: None. An uneventful install.

Other Thoughts: Installed on 64 bit Windows 7. Core i7 2.8 GZ processor. 8 Gb RAM

1 out of 5 eggsPoor choice of finance software

Pros: If you are willing to put the time in it can help you manage a business

Cons: Multiple problems with both 2010 and 2007 versions. Would not install and start properly. Works in odd ways such as customizing sales options. Horrible support even if you do buy a subscription plan.

Other Thoughts: I do not recommend this software.

1 out of 5 eggsLove New Egg Hate Intuit

Pros: New Egg had it here in one day

Cons: If you are not patient with tech support, and not at least above average Tech Knowlege, look for another product. Sadly this is almost an Idustry standard, and I have used QuickBooks for over a decade. I hate it! Their support is almost not existent. If you have any problems you have to subscribe to a support package. You have to call in to activate you product. That seems a little excessive a security measure, for a product you have to have subscriptions to even use. Anyway, I will be looking for something to use NOT made by Intuit

Other Thoughts: Works fine when you get everything installed and operational, but don't expect that purchase price is the last of the money you will give Intuit.
