Not Happy
- Pros: Nice Look. Windows Defender (i dont use) is a great add on. lots of security features if ur a twitchy, scared internet surfer.
- Cons: Resource hog. moved things around so u have to kinda relearn where things are. doesnt let u do as much if ur a skilled person who likes to get into the meat and potatoes. here r a few on my complaints... lets say u want to defrag a thumb drive. well, xp lets u just do it. vista has to analyze all drives first and if doesnt think u need to defrag, it wont let u. so u just wasted time waiting for it to analyze. xp pulls up a graph so u can see how bad ur drive is. vista doesnt let u see anything. also, when i put comp on my network, i couldnt pull up other comps on network. i had to use xp comps to find the vista comp so i could xfer files. vista just pulls up media from network comps. lots of little things like that add up and bug me.
- Other Thoughts: Been building comps for about 10 yrs now. 98 to XP change was a pleasure for the most part. (only complaint was several of my favorite games wouldnt play) XP to Vista change has so far been unpleasant. i think vista is basically "Windows for Dummies". i really dont like the fact that vista seems designed so that if it cant fix what prob your having, its not gonna let u show it up and fix it on your own. you cant use your XP know how, b/c vista wont let u have access to alot fo things u had with XP. real bummer!! im staying with XP as long as i can.
- Pros: DirectX 10 runs pretty good!
- Cons: Vista itself has many faults in it, examples would be it cannot run any programs that are older than XP. Even some programs that runs on XP wont work aswell...
- Other Thoughts: I spent too much for a faulty OS. I am back on XP again.
i got no complaints
- Pros: works great, somehow with a x2 4000 and 2 gig, it runs faster than my pc with and x2 6000 and 4 gig of ram. very few compatiblit issues (see cons). also, i am obsessed with the sidebar gadgets. i've downloaded over 30 so far. they are awesome.
- Cons: ane compatiblity issue with a 4 year old isp disk. it was time to upgrade anyway. also it took me about 10 minutes of fighting with the case before i figured out how to open it. for anyone else geting this product and wants to save yourself the embarrasment, it flips open like a pocket knife.
- Other Thoughts: great product for anyone who is willing to spend the dough and build a new computer to go with the software. if you have and old pc that was state of the art when xp sp2 came out, chances are it probably won't run this without a lot of problems. just like a pc that was built for win 98 running xp.so if anyone wants to bash this os, make sure you droped the dough to make your pc compatible first.
