4 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

Pros: Its a good 64 bit operating system, with more support and stability than xp 64 bit.

Cons: It didn't want to update from the service pack 1 disk included with it. I had to physically download the update from Microsoft and install it. Also had to reformat to make it work. Some applications won't work with it for whatever reason but it does support more than xp 64 bit

Other Thoughts: Overall it works and if you are building a system with over 3 gigs of ram or just want a 64 bit operating system then get this one. Hopefully 64 bit will get a whole lot better with windows 7.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat OS

Pros: Looks great and loaded with features. I like the side bar that they added to the desktop. Easy to navigate for the most part. I was able to find My Computer without a problem, but I see where the confusion is coming from. Don't listen to the people talking down about Vista. Xp was the worst OS in history according to reviews when it first came out. In time this OS will make you very happy esp. in 64-bit!!

Cons: All the bad reviews almost made me buy XP for a Vista 64-bit capable computer. I'm glad I didn't do that!!

Other Thoughts: ASUS P5Q MOBO, Intel core 2 duo E8400 wolfdale CPU, Thermatake V1 Heatsink fan, 4GB (2GBx2) G. Skill DDR2 RAM, GeForce N9600GT 512MB videocard, runs smooth!!

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than XP

Pros: Great new features, haven't had any compatibility issues, supports 8GB of RAM. I was worried about all the bad things I've heard about Vista, but I have been very happy with it! Its just as good as Windows Mojave!

Cons: Stupid UAC thing kept popping up, had to turn it off

Other Thoughts: intell e8400, asus p5q, HD4850, 4gb corsair, other fun stuff...

4 out of 5 eggsNot so bad after all

Pros: Great 64-bit OS. I have not run into any problem that a few minutes of searching the net couldn't fix. Excellent experience with Vista so far.

Cons: UAC can be a little annoying, but can be easily deactivated.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have all appropriate drivers ready before installation.

2 out of 5 eggsSucks down resource like black hole

Pros: Pretty user interface

Cons: Ran out 2GB memory while watching a Blu-ray movie, 100+ security patch downloaded since Oct. 2007, Even with 2GB memory the system is slow and not able to run much without running out memory. The system gives me security prompt for every time I run executable. Most of the TCP/IP server based software crapped out.

Other Thoughts: I thought purpose of OS is to manage resource? (Not dry memory on its own so nothing can run)

3 out of 5 eggsvista...

Pros: DX 10, 64 bit... yay!

Cons: Memory hog, crash, crash, crash, switch back to XP, no crash, yay... Microsoft blew this operating system, but everybody knows it.... don't be fooled by microsoft's marketing team.. it really is not a good OS, besides the technology.. it was the living hell I expected...

5 out of 5 eggsHave to say its great!

Pros: Have been using vista for about a year but only recently have I been able to use it on a good computer.. as in I went from a laptop to desktop. I have had no compatibility problems, any 32-bit app WILL work, it just puts all 32-bit apps in the (x86) program files. I have 4 gigs or ram and Athlon x2 4850e @ 3.2Ghz and it is blazing fast, faster than xp to me. Also I'm using crossfire, and I don't have any problem running it.

Cons: UAC. This is the only con I have because some drivers will not load if this is on, thats probably where everyone gets driver issues. I had it to when I tried to install my AMD drivers, i kept getting the same error during installation and when I turned UAC off, BAM! loaded with no problem. So far I have only 1 game that won't play with UAC on and that is Everquest 2.

Other Thoughts: Some tips for vista, UAC is the number 1 reason programs don't work, or drivers have an error during installation. So if something isn't working, that should be the first thing you try. Another thing is if you go into My Computer a lot and you come from XP it might take some getting use to, to navigate through it fast. I recommend this over XP 64-bit, plus there is more driver and software support for vista 64-bit.

3 out of 5 eggsit could be worse!

Pros: 64bit, looks and feels great. cd has cool graphics all over it, seems pretty stable.

Cons: 64bit, vista UAC pop ups, lows mighty computers down abit. have to download patches for many programs to run on vista and still many dont even work

Other Thoughts: stock up on ram! vista 64 for me is idling around using 1 gig of ram, I'v got 4 and it runs well but the more the better!
