5 out of 5 eggsVista rules...

Pros: Great operating system. Installed in about 15 minutes.

Cons: I didn't read the title before ordering and assumed that this had SP1. It doesn't... Some programs can alter the icons in the user directory and the only way to restore them is to reinstall Vista (?).

Other Thoughts: Don't believe the Vista haters. They don't know what they are talking about.

5 out of 5 eggsRAID 0 WORKS GREAT

Pros: windows vista does great in RAID O even though some peple are under the mistaken idea that it won't, I have it on 2 80gb sata western digital hard-drives in raid 0 it runs great I get a 5.7 on hard-drive rating with a max of 5.9 so I would say that raid 0 works

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: people need to study up if they are going to try special OS instalation operations such as RAID using rosewill RC-209-EX PCI sata raid card. since I am restricted to 1.5gb instead of the 3.0 getting a 5.7 vista ratring shows something is working right

3 out of 5 eggsVista premium cant do (raid 0) what XP home can

Pros: it installed without a problem

Cons: It cant work with or create striped or RAID drive arrays , you need home Ultimate for that so if you want to be able to run raid 0 for gaming performance be prepared to pony up the 260 bucks for Home Ultimate.

This is ridiculous as i can have stripped drives on XP home which was a 99 doller OS.

I Just thought i would try out vista now service PACK 1 is out, (I did the beta and it expired)

Other Thoughts: Microsoft should have two version just like XP, Home and Pro this myriad of variations of OS are just plain confusing an an attempt to rip off the customer for more money.

So far i have yet to find ANY advantage of VISTA over XP, its certainty slower and i have a Kick bottom system! maybe Aero just lost its WOW factor on me because i ran it in Beta, but 3D task scrolling really just slows things down, pretty but not practicle!

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: So far so good. I had no problem with installing Vista Home Premium. Right now as I am typing this review I have to say that I am fairly impressed. I was very uncertain about getting Vista from many of the negative comments that I have heard. I guess it is based on lack of hardware requirements. Yes, the new lay-out will take sometime getting use to but that's really not a negative thing. There was a small hiccup if you will as I was surfing the web and in a few minutes it said what the problem was and what is a possible solution!! The hiccup was when I opend a second window in IE it flashed. It turns out that it has to do with my printer.

Cons: None so far.. Will update.

If there has to be a con I guess they could have made the fonts on the product key a bit larger.

Other Thoughts: Oh and Newegg ROCK!!! for delivery. I placed an order for these items OEM, hard-drive and memory early Friday morning 6/6/08 oh! say 1AM by Friday at 8AM it was already out for delivery. WOW!! And I was expecting this on Monday!! It could be due to the location for where the products orginated from but still
Newegg ROCK!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsgreat job vista!!

Pros: it takes my games with ease it took all my questioned
drivers from my old games and downloaded with no problems. love the security it has ,with xp i had issues with security but not now. love my vista home premium
and will install it on my other two computers.

Cons: none yet , just enjoying it .

Other Thoughts: i was kinda skeptical at first because of the negative
stories about vista , but they must of had older computers because i have had none so far.

4 out of 5 eggsPerfect for me

Pros: Once up and running this OS is very stable, fast and responsive. Networking has been working fairly well. Lots of cool features like the cross media bar. Easy to get installed

Cons: Once installed this OS wanted permission to do anything, it blocked me out of several function and it took quite a while to get around all the safety precautions. Setting up the network was a little tough, it would only see my XP machine as a media server a lot of time went into fixing that. Didn't recognize my old scanner or my video capture card.

Other Thoughts: With some work and compromise this OS is very nice.
