- Pros: Works out of the box and I have used it for 12 months without to many problems. I have taken several long trips using the program. The first trip was install in a Dell 13 inch laptop. This year I bought an MSI WIND and it worked well. It saved me from getting lost several times.
- Cons: The software could be easier to use. POI seems to me to be more of a joke than a real help. Darned if I can find much of anything using it.
Also the USB wire slipped out of the plug and I had to epoxy it to the plug to keep the wires from pulling free.
Icons and menu are much too small to be seen by the driver.
- Other Thoughts: Actually a dedicated GPS unit might be better in the long run. For long runs you have to have the laptop plugged in so the cockpit becomes a tangle of wires. Even the 10" MSI WIND cannot be stationed so that it can be seen easily by the driver and typing input is not easy.
Don't buy this software unless you have money to burn
- Pros: It's cheap. Runs on Windows. Hard to beat the appeal of a GPS with a laptop sized display.
- Cons: Software leaves a lot to be desired. It gets very confused when you take unexpected exits off a highway, comes up with some very interesting re-routing when this happens. Not a very robust application at all. I've used the route optimization feature but usually just end up taking my own route since it comes up with some crazy stuff. Don't use it for "mission critical" travel, it's likely that it'll take you on a route that is less than optimal.
Great Product
- Pros: No better or worse than the 2006 and 2007 editions, which I owned and liked.
- Cons: If you have saved files of Streets and Trips, earlier editions, they may not transfer.
