i did not like it
- Pros: good cinematic sequences. good storyline.
- Cons: unsatisfying shooter mechanics
- Other Thoughts: if you like rpgs then this game may be for you. however, this is nowhere near crysis. the developers may bill this game as an rpg with elements of a shooter however the shooter aspects of this game is rather disappointing compared to crysis.
Fallout 3
- Pros: Once you get into the story, Fallout 3 can be very enjoyable. I owned the game for a long time before really getting into it. Now I can't stop playing and mainly for three reasons: 1.) The story is very engaging (once you get past all the early level stuff), 2.) The reward system is great and can keep a player very interested in moving forward, (hint: choosing to be good can be very helpful) 3.) VATS system never gets old (the animations and graphics behind it are awesome) It's a treat to watch and execute. Sound is excellent by the way.
- Cons: These are not really cons, but a few things annoy me. The game can be a little buggy. I've had it crash on me a few times and I consider my system a flawless build, always up to date, tweaked for games and only used for gaming. It is very long, especially if you play all the expansions. I do not plan to go through the expansions because there are several other games in my library waiting for me.
- Other Thoughts: Get through all the early level stuff as quick as possible. And I highly recommend using a guide, especially at the beginning. Navigating through the post apacolyptic Washington DC is quite a challenge. Many paths are not straight and require a lot of exploring before finding the desired locations. A major contributor to the New Age of generic games
- Pros: The atmosphere of this game is great. I, personally, like this visual update to the Fallout series.
- Cons: Where do I begin? The story line is uninteresting, the game play is boring as hell (poorly pulled off use of the VATS system) and even buggy at times. There's just nothing there that even really reminds me of the old Fallout games. It's just Oblivion (another generic game released by Bethesda) with a Fallout skin. What really surprises me is that people actually LIKE this game. How could anybody enjoy such a bland game such as this? Fallout 1 & 2 are FAR better releases in the series (by the now defunct Blackisle) and the collection for both games is half the price of this game. Bethesda needs to do something with their production team, and stop half assing their releases. This game had so much potential to be an AMAZING addition to the Fallout series (same with Oblivion to TES series) but Bethesda have failed to release anything that surpasses all of these mediocre games that have gained so much attention these days
- Other Thoughts: Seriously, if you want a game that has depth, a real challenge, and just an overall fun game, buy the Fallout 1 & 2 collection. I've heard people complain about the graphics (considering how old the games are) but graphics should not be of importance since they absolutely do not make the game any less fun. Today, people are blinded by detailed graphics from the fact that a majority of the games today are unchallenging generic clones of original games. You console kiddies need to wake up a little.
