McAfee VirusScan Plus 2009 1 User

Pros: My subscription ran out last month i complained that it was off by a month...What did they do?
6 months free....How do you like them apples...I like the ip trace and ip address ban features the best.Still don't know if it was my fault scrubbed my computer might have caused a date problem on my subscription pretty sure it was my fault but either way...6 months FREE plus this WOW!!! 1.5 years I don't have to worry about while surfing.If there trying to make me a loyal customer all I can say is at this point WHO WOULDN"T BE?

Cons: It's free are you kidding me? Idid'nt get mine here for free... Not yet anyway... 8-)

Other Thoughts: Are they the best...I don't know but I've used them for 7 years and I'm happy with there programs and features once you get used to them you have alot of control over what goes on...and what you want to let in and out your computer.I never had a virus and after giving me 6 months free I'll stick with them thats a great sign they care about there customers....And besides if it's FREE it's for ME...

Pros: Seems to work well as long as you turn off any malware protection you already have.

Cons: Beware the rebate game. After sending in the original receipt, McAffee said that the date of purchase was not provided, despite the fact it was on the receipt. No recourse since the original receipt is required and it is no longer available.

Pros: Easy to use. No compatibility issues that I've come across. Real time scanner works great and the added browser security helps when you surf the web.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm a big online gamer and with certain ports open, its always good to have added security. Whenever I open a game for the first time, McAfee prompts me if I would like to grant it access to the internet. Select Yes and you're good to go for the rest of the time with that game with the added security of McAfee. Great buy at $10, shell shocker.

Pros: easy to install. solid anti-virus protection.

Cons: can be a little difficult to customize options. found it difficult to coordinate w/ vista's default settings.

Other Thoughts: be sure to turn off vista's defender before installing. once i did that i reinstalled this software and haven't had any problems since.

Pros: Works, simple interface. Option to install from updated files downloaded from McAfee vs off the CD. No stupid key code to type in.

Cons: Is still a little bloated compared to a few other security products.

Other Thoughts: McAfee doesn't quite deserve all the bashing it gets. This is a solid product, just don't install on a minimal system and you'll be OK.

Pros: None

Cons: I want antivirus that I can use when I want to and how I want to. I don't want a stupid looking skinned window with popups saying my computer was not "secure" showing up ever hour or so. It only works for one YEAR.

Other Thoughts: The interface looks horrible. The options don't allow you to turn the popup alerts off. It installs a couple of windows services that are required for the app to run. I hate it!!!!

Pros: Does exactly what is is supposed to do.
Been using this on my other systems for years.

Cons: Can be a little annoying with the pop-ups to re-subscribe, etc.

Pros: I been using McAfee virus scan for more than 6 years and have never had problem with it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Got this on a Shell Shocker deal. Right on time as my old version of McAfee was about to expire.

Pros: The comments below are slighted to people who fail to upgrade their systems and expect everything to be perfect. After 3 years old most machines areoutdated these days they are not toasters. Additionally viruses required a layered approach not one software package.

Cons: None it was a steal at $9.99 each. Reputable brand along with CA and Symantec.

Other Thoughts: I recommend updating your software version yearly regardless of brand. There are that many new viruses each year to justify it. Run your MS updates often and ensure your system is compatible via CPU, ram and diskspace requirements prior to purchase. There are still people who expect Win 98 to be supported.

Pros: Gives significant protection against viruses and malware.

Cons: Nothing at this moment.
