Rebit Backup
- Pros: Backing up could not be any simpler. Plug in an external hard drive larger than in your computer and the program does ALL the rest. Any time a change is made in a file or program Rebit backs it up. No thinking required. (I liked that!)It has not slowed down my computer at all. (I don't do any gaming, so I am easy on the computer also.)
- Cons: Restoring from my external hard drive for recovery did take a long time. Maybe 3 hours. I am unsure if it the program, if the new (750 gb seagate from about 100gb hard drive) was being formatted, or what. Upon installing the new hard drive only about 100gb was seen. Approximately 600gb were not seen. I do not know if this is the hard drive or program or me not formatting the hard drive prior to backing it up, or just using a larger hard drive. MAKE SURE YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET TO ALLOW REBIT TO CONTACT REBIT TO FUNCTION MORE THAN A FEW DAYS. I HAVE ONE COMPUTER THAT IS NOT AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO CONTACT REBIT TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THE ONLINE COMPUTER WORKS FINE. REBIT ONLY WORKED ABOUT 10 DAYS BEFORE 'NOTIFYING" ME I MUST CONTACT THEM, BUT NO RESPONSE.
- Other Thoughts: Although a bit slow on recovery it recovered Everything, so I do not mind it taking a while to recover. No information nor program nor program settings were lost. I will highly recommend this program to anyone regarding a "complete" backup of their computer. I have lost two hard drives and this practice recovery for me has been very reassuring.
Avoid for Speed
- Pros: It backups up to all your hard
drives to one USB external drive (i hope)thats at least the size of your C drive or larger. I have 3 internal drives and dont need but 2...
You can recover your data once your hard drive goes south and it's automatic when running in the background...
DO NOT LOSE YOUR REBIT DISK WHEN YOU NEED TO BACUP TO A NEW HARD DRIVE OR COMPUTER!!!! 'cause if they are lost, say bye bye to your data on new system or drive too...unless Ribit will send you a new copy or you buy one to do so... maybe if it allows, make copies of the Rebit Disk as well...to be continued
- Cons: SLOW at backing up, and if your using a slower computer, it is not good if your using processor intense apps... dont know if it backs up hidden files or files in use or certain system files, but it should...
- Other Thoughts: Seems very slow at backing up data, must be some kind of Rebit file write for every file or a Rebit file conversion of sorts... your computer hickups if its slow to start with like mine...good for basic use of a computer cause its slows you down a little...you can easily turn Rebit off if need be and thats simple, but when it is turned back on, then do it when you have some time like bed time...
It serves the purpose, you can use files in your Rebit drive, but they are slow...you can drag and drop files into a Rebit drive (The external USB backup drive) and easily recover them on a Rebit installed system....my humble O...Leroy
Rebit Software
- Pros: Can't find any negative reviews online anywhere.
- Cons: price at newegg. Found it cheaper elsewhere.
- Other Thoughts: for what this software does it's just a no brainer in a small office. a certain lost file can bring you down in a hurry and preventing that loose could mean the difference in a day of profits or a weeks of loose. I can't see a down side to this software.
