Beware - Potentially Hazardous PLEASE READ

Pros: Easy set up, rock solid for nearly 5 years

Cons: Near-catastrophic failure when the unit became dangerously hot

Other Thoughts: I purchased two XE102's back in 2003 and the product worked flawlessly for nearly 5 years. However, I came home from work today and found one of them bloated and EXTREMELY HOT. I immediately unplugged it and, believe it or not, a brown fluid started dripping out of the device. The case was also bloated as if it were building up pressure inside. I did some quick research online and read other instances of these things actually exploding and/or smoldering. Needless to say, I was spooked by the whole incident and both units went straight into the trash. Not saying this will happen to you but please keep a close eye on these devices for your own safety or that of your family.

Wall-Plugged + Lighting bad Combo

Pros: Works as advertised

Cons: There was a close lightning strike at my apartment and power spike destroyed devices across my network since you can't plugged these into a surge protector.

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Very simple install. No configuration (unless you want to name the network). Just plug the router into one and put another wherever you need internet in the building. It just works.

Cons: Have to dedicate a wall socket anywhere one is needed, no extensions or power strips.

Other Thoughts: A quick and easy solution for getting connectivity in areas where wireless can't reach.
