very good for what it is
- Pros: this is a refurb so flashy retail box is not included. i have had a refurb for several years now not a day of trouble the unit is easy to set up extends range considerably over other routers that are NOT N types or better. its great for a small apartment or condo. the lights can be shut off or left on to see where the signal is heaviest. this is a MIMO router and i would recommend using a MIMO adapter. for the best results.
- Cons: needs to reset once in a blue moon this can be scheduled in firmware.
- Other Thoughts: if you are having signal drops try changing channels most times there are too many routers (WIFI AP'S) of the same brand that are just too close or even change operating country. upgrading(reinstalling) firmware may also be another option the firmware for a refurb is the same as the NEW. also using MIMO like the netgear wpn111 usb which is designed for this router will help . instead of the 192.168.1.1 ip try using this while WIRED to the router www.routerlogin.net it may login faster. you need not be wired straight in u can go via a switch or hub but you should be wired not wireless..
Works Great
- Pros: I had this router for several years and it has been working great. It's pretty, has decent options. Internal antennas are nice. For the price, you can not ask for more. 18$ shipped. I bought about 15 of these, and so far all of them worked fine out of the box.
- Cons: Do have to unplug it now and then to get my wireless back up.
- Other Thoughts: I know these are not the best, but it is better than linksys!! I hate linksys, unless it is modded with ddwrt of course. Sorry i dont have any technical insights about the netgears.. they just work.
