5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I've had this router over a year, and I've only reset it twice for performance issues. I updated the firmware right after I bought it, and it has been extremely stable and reliable. I've had up to 7 computers connected through the wireless, and it didn't even hiccup.

Cons: The range isn't *awesome*, but I can get at least a low signal anywhere in my two-story home. It would be nice if the signal were a little stronger.

Other Thoughts: My internet connection is a 15Mbps fiber-optic line, which is a factor in the good performance. I just upgraded to a 50Mpbs fiber-optic line, and the router handles the speed just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: Easy set up. Did not use the software that came with it. Am quite satisfied with the performance after getting it set up to work as I needed.

Cons: I first set the router up on the second floor of our home. I got little or no signal downstairs. So I then moved it downstairs and then got an excellent signal both upstairs and downstairs. I have found that the signal travels up much better than down, which seems reasonable when considering how the signal is broadcast.

Other Thoughts: If you have trouble with signal strength, I'd suggest that you consider getting the D-Link 24-0700 Omni-Directional antenna to replace the one that comes with the router. I did and this enhanced the signal that I was getting.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Router

Pros: Going through multiple walls from the other side of the house and down a floor I can get a full signal. Install was a simple walk through. Given the price, range, and transfer rate, I think it's a great deal

Cons: I've had to restart my computer to get it working again but I'm not sure if that is a problem with the router itself.

Other Thoughts: I've never seen a company ship an item a few hours after ordering it. I'm quite impressed and I'll be buying here again.

4 out of 5 eggsDI-624

Pros: This unit was very easy to install and it connected right away. No drops or reboots so far. I have it connected to a cable modem.

Cons: Doesn't seem to come close to advertised ranges (324 ft). This unit is on the top floor of a 3 story house and signal drops to nothing on both lower levels.

Other Thoughts: Might need to add a repeater or booster.

1 out of 5 eggsNot reliable

Pros: Easy to setup and full featured for a device in this class.

Cons: Horrible software. Not reliable.

Other Thoughts: I owned two of these. I have never had so much frustration as with the unreliable nature of this product. The first one never worked quite right. Dropping connections, etc. I replaced it with another which completely died after about 6 months. Total garbage. The PCI adapter cards from D-Link are even worse. I'll never buy D-Link products again.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

Pros: When it works, it works great.
D-Link's RMA process is very smooth and easy.
All my other D-Link products have been great.

Cons: I had to do an RMA due to random reboots.
The replacement unit also has problems.
I'm not the only one.

Other Thoughts: Like many other NewEgg reviewers', mine started rebooting randomly. D-Link sent me a refurbished unit, but unfortunately, I suspect it was a unit that someone else else returned, because this unit reboots randomly as well. Sounds like all the router vendors have reliability problems, so I'm just going to treat them as disposable...

1 out of 5 eggsAll lights no action

Pros: None

Cons: All that happened when I got it was the lights came on and never went off. I called D-Link Support and after trying to reset it they said to return it. I wish I didn't have to pay to ship it back but I guess you can't blame Newegg for manufacturing defects.

Other Thoughts: I hope I have better luck with the replacement.

2 out of 5 eggsdeteriorating

Pros: My first DI-624 worked mostly as advertised with a good signal through the floor and multiple walls for almost a year.

Cons: D-624 began dropping internet out more and more often and felt hot to the touch. Had to disable Super G and Turbo, and extended range and WPA. Finally became so unreliable as to be useless. Waded through the endless support telephone tree several times until D-Link sent me a replacement, which arrived in a plain box, obviously someone's returned unit. But after a few days that one has a signal only reached 8-10 feet line of sight. Gets no connection at all 20 feet away. Barely one bar of signal in the same room, while my neighbor's houses with unsecured wireless give a solid two. Waded through the endless support telephone tree again (and dropped calls) and increasing levels of technicians with alternative settings that did not make any difference whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: Nice that D-Link was willing to send me a replacement (after multiple support calls), but too bad is was another customer's reject.
I am carefully reading Newegg's reviews for a unit with more consistent and reliable performance.
