3 out of 5 eggsover complicating the problem

Pros: It did work.

Cons: Wasn't as Plug'n'Play as I had thought. Purchased to use with a D-Link router thinking it would be pretty simple, turned out getting thuroughly complicated for an average user- later I found a boost antenna would fulfill my need with absolutely no setup.

Other Thoughts: My situation was probably complicated by the fact that I was operating in an office building that had nearly a dozen wireless networks running at any time. If it was a single network area it probably would work better but for most needs I'm willing to bet a better antenna would do the job and be a lot simpler.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Boost

Pros: Great little repeater. I went from 50-60% connectivity in my bedroom to 100%. Gaming and streaming is faster.

Cons: Small antenna.

Other Thoughts: Replaced stock antenna with the 2.4GHz Omni-Directional 7dBi Indoor Antenna. Works well with DGL-4300. Cheaper to buy at Circuit City but Newegg has it in stock.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product!

Pros: Extremely easy set up contrary to what some people here are saying. I wasn't able to get in by assigning the static 192.168.0.30 address to my laptop, so i just plugged the extender into my router (D-link DGL-4300), typed in http://192.168.0.30 and i was in wirelessly. From there, all you need to do is set up a password for the extender, locate your wireless network, set up encryption (if you'd like), re-start the machine and then plug it in wherever you want it.

Cons: None yet, but i only set it up a couple hours ago.

Other Thoughts: I have my router in the basement (where i do my gaming) and the office is up about 2.5 floors and at the other end of the townhouse, so the signal strength was weak there. I placed the extender on the main floor about halfway between the router and the office, and my laptop wireless signal strength went from 1-2 (Poor/Fair) to 4-5 (Very Good/Excellent).

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine!

Pros: Easy, easy setup. I'm using it as a range extender for my DGL-4500. Hooked right up, assigned a fixed IP to the unit and changed the settings on the device to match the IP and network security settings. No troubles whatsoever. Doesn't even need the CD.

Cons: Not quite the range boosting power I'd hoped for. It is one floor down and 3 walls away though. I should move it closer to the base unit.

Other Thoughts: I returned a WRE54G to Best Buy and got this unit from Newegg instead. I spent 2 days trying to get the Linksys to work properly, the DWL-G710 set up in 2 minutes.

1 out of 5 eggsDied after a year

Pros: It worked for a year.....I did not buy at Newegg....Most of my purchases are from here and they are great. Newegg gets one star for letting me vent here.

Cons: It appears to set up correctly, but the RF will not turn on. No matter how many times I flash the firmware, it will not turn on.

Other Thoughts: I also have a D-Link WiFi router, so I thought it would be a natural fit. It's going in the garbage...

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Alright

Pros: Product was easy to set up, documentation was pretty good to follow.

Cons: Unfortunately, the product didn't really seem to like my router.

4 out of 5 eggs3 minute setup

Pros: Setup literally took 3 minutes out of the box. Yes, 3 minutes and it was working, connected, and extending my wireless signal. The boost in speed/range was pretty good, but maybe not quite as high as I was hoping.

Cons: The boost in speed/range wasn't quite as incredible as I thought, but it was still a pretty decent size boost in range.

Other Thoughts: Great product, worked exactly like it was advertised. I'd highly recommend this hardware

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap

Cons: I bought two of these (Rev B). The support site has no page for these models, and they don't function properly after changing the subnet mask. 4 hours troubleshooting; I'm done. Don't buy unless you're happy with a 255.255.255.0 subnet.

3 out of 5 eggsCouldn't get it to work

Pros: The ability to "sniff out" wireless networks to connect to.

Cons: DNS lookups didn't work when connected to the DWL-G710. Couldn't actually confirm connection to the DWL-G710, outside of failure of DNS lookups. Tech support was absolutely horrendous!

Other Thoughts: Upon reflection, I might not have been patient enough with the DWL-G710, hence the "average" rating. Tech support was so bad, I ended up returning the device and going with another brand.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to set up and works

Pros: Just bought my second. Have increased wireless access signal through entire house with this second addition. Works like a charm. Once it's configured and set up you can ignore it and it just works.

NewEgg is also great.

Cons: Laptop wants to stay connected to the AP or repeater it's currently connected to - so if you move from one room to another, I have to turn off the antenna and turn it back on - not a big deal - and that may be just something with my network.

Other Thoughts: Again, Newegg is great.
