does a little more than it says
- Pros: does more than what it says, at least in my application
clean looking magnetic mounting, or wall mounting repeatable results, across multiple antennas cord length seems to no affect signal
- Cons: none so far, havent tested with N, not sure if results will differ
since cord seems to not affect signal quality, why not a longer cord, long enough till right before you see a decrease?
- Other Thoughts: i did a mild benchmarking test, with AP Grapher providing the measuring, i measured at three different distances, and in EVERY case, these antennas provided 7dbi or more increase in signal, and a more proportional comm quality to signal ratio. biggest increase i saw +10dbi, repeatable, with two identical antenna (i ordered two for my router, tried them one at a time on a know consistent G router with one antenna)
bottom line, in my application, these did more than what they said, i recommend them.
Just Okay
- Pros: Looks good
- Cons: Isn't much of an improvement over the standard 2" antenna that came with my router.
Open Box Purchase
- Pros: External stand allowing placement away from router. Connection issues are less frequent. No visible gain based on software properties via laptop.
- Cons: Using this antenna rather than the one included with my DGL-4300, I noticed the one device that I use throughout the day and around the house, "iPod touch" has a lower signal. I reconfigured my router to 54 rather than automatic, then I get less range.
- Other Thoughts: Remember dbi gain is relative, the 5dbi gain antenna that came with the DGL-4300 is not going to make a huge difference compared to 7dbi gain with this antenna. At least my antenna is no longer directly attached to the back of my router opening up more placement options for the router.
