3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well with Atheros driver.

Cons: D-Link drivers are garbage and give a BSOD on 3 different machines. Download atheros driver and it will work perfectly.

Other Thoughts: Odd that D-Link's own drivers don't work with its own products and that a 3rd-party driver is the only way to get it to work.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a wireless adapter.................

Pros: It works. It allows you to connect a computer to your network without wires.

Cons: included software

Other Thoughts: DO NOT USE THE DLINK SOFTWARE!! I have two of these installed and this is my third, all work flawlessly except if you use the dlink software. I did on my second one and had a whole host of problems. Intermittent connectivity, B.S.O.D., weak signal strength showing, etc... Allow windows to find and install it and you will have no problems.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine on Linux

Pros: Works on Linux.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: To get it working under Linux, need the driver from madwifi.sf.net.

5 out of 5 eggsA quick win for this Linux newbie

Pros: Worked out of the box with ubuntu 6.06 and madwifi drivers. Hooked up easily to my Apple Airport network (WEP authentication) using Apple's online instructions for third-party adapter cards.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Have already purchased a second one

4 out of 5 eggsGood Adapter But.....

Pros: It worked as specified.

Cons: D-Link customer service stinks. I talked to a guy that problably did not know what was a wireless adapter.

Other Thoughts: I return this product because I was trying to use it in a computer that has already another D-Link wireless adapter. The problem is the even though the one I returned (520) is totally different from the already installed (510), they use the same driver. Windows XP Pro was allowing only one adapter to be enable. The one that first had the lock on the driver. I switched to Netgear and all the problems were resolved. Now, I have a D-link adapter and a netgear wireless adapter working perfectly in the same computer.

Pros: Works great, everything included in the box.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have used two of these on computer builds now without a hitch. Install the card, install the software, good to go!

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with XP 64

Pros: Cheap

Cons: You get what you pay for with this card. D-link provides terrible customer service and few drivers with no updates. Be warned, this card and the other 500 series D-link cards will not run on a 64 bit operating system unless you write your own drivers for it.
