ARRRGGHHH!
- Pros: After a year and half, I still haven't found any.
- Cons: Finicky, ornery, unreliable, slow, unstable.
- Other Thoughts: This thing has never worked well. And now it's just driving me nuts. It's always dropping the connection (wireless and wired). It boots people off randomly. Doesn't work well with Macs (that is it works even worse with Macs). We have a 3 story house with 10+ computers using this "business class" router. You can be sitting right next to the thing and still lose the signal. D-Link has never upgraded the firmware. So either it's already perfect, or they just don't support this thing. Over the last 1.5 years I have grown to hate this router more and more. It is by far the worst router I have ever used.
Works Well
- Pros: Useful and extensive web-based configuration utility. Good wireless range. Consistent LAN performance.
- Cons: Not a permanent con, just a start-up con. Had trouble with losing WAN connection out of the box with LAN computers getting the default random IPs via DHCP. Had to reboot router often to re-establish and sometimes just opening the configuration utility would fix it. Sometimes nothing seemed to fix it. Very random solution so I never really figured out how I fixed it when it happened. LAN always worked, but WAN sometimes didn't or just dropped. Applied dedicated IPs to all LAN computers and devices via config utility and that solved all WAN problems (see DHCP section of config utility). So, all that being said, no cons at this time.
- Other Thoughts: Works very well after configuration changes eliminated initial WAN difficulties I was experiencing. Dedicated IPs for my machines solved all initial out of the box problems. Your experience may differ due to your particular situation/technical level. These comments posted because extensive internet search on the problem I was experiencing turned up nothing specific.
Excellent so Far
- Pros: Very easy to configure, great range on wireless. Solid unit, not flimsy like most consumer models
- Cons: None yet

Introduction
D-Link's DI-724GU 108G Gigabit Office router integrates several highly useful features to make your business more productive. Built inside a rugged metal chassis, the DI-724GU uses the 802.11g wireless standard, which is backwards compatible with the older 802.11b standard, allowing it to work with a wide range of Wi-Fi-enabled equipment. Business environments in need of both wireless and wired network connections will benefit from the DI-724GU's four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports—perfect for fast transfer speeds for computers and VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) phones.
Need to give voice and video priority over other data? This router's integrated QoS (quality of service) features do just that. Also, you’ll find advanced firewall and intrusion prevention (IPS) features to secure your network from external threats, including worms, DoS attacks, and viruses.
With the DI-724GU you also get an integrated USB print server. Simply connect any USB printer to the router and anyone connected to your network can print to it.
Highlights
IEEE 802.11b/g Compliant Compliant with the IEEE 802.11b/g protocol, the D-Link DI-724GU integrates into existing wireless network with up to 108Mbps data transfer speeds.
Gigabit Network Connection The D-Link DI-724GU features 4 Gigabit LAN ports to provide up to 10X faster speeds than most 100M network connections and excellent usability for office networks.
Improved VoIP The Gigabit Office Router uses QoS technology to improve the quality of VoIP calls, which are real-time sensitive and require much higher bandwidth. The Gigabit Office Router features an intelligent engine to automatically detect and prioritize bandwidth-sensitive packets over the Internet as soon as the request is made for faster processing of real-time based packets, less latency and a better user experience.
Network Printing The Office Router USB 2.0 port delivers both printer server and Windows Connect Now functionality. Connect a USB printer to the Office Router and enable printer sharing amongst all network users. Using the PS Wizard, easily set up an attached printer for printing on the network without the need for purchasing additional printers or dedicating a PC for printing services. Windows Connect Now makes configuring wireless settings as simple as running the Wireless Network Setup Wizard from Windows XP SP2 and transferring the wireless settings using a USB flash drive.
High Wireless Security The D-Link DI-724GU Router supports WPA and WPA2 standards for use of the available supreme encryption regardless of client devices. The built-in firewall prevents potential attacks from the Internet.
