This TrendNet Wireless N Router makes it easy to network all the computers in your home or office! Once plugged into your modem, the router offers wireless 802.11b/g/n connectivity for your notebooks, gaming system, and other compatible devices within 500 feet. The 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch built into the router offers fast wired connections for your printer and desktop computers.

Configuration is painless with the built-in web interface. The included Virtual Server utility makes it easy to configure any connected computer as a web server or FTP server, so the users you specify can have remote access to network content over the Internet. With Quality of Service (QoS) prioritization, you get extra bandwidth when you need it for your streaming media, gaming session, or large downloads.

Your network stays safe from hackers with WPA-PSK (TKIP or AES) or WEP encryption; MAC, IP, or Protocol filtering; and an SPI/NAT firewall, which also allows you to limit Internet access. Manage and monitor usage with smart features like Traffic Log support, Traffic Control, which allows you to define available bandwidth for each computer; and Remote Management, which lets you make adjustments over the Internet. When it comes to reliability, security, and convenience, the TrendNet Wireless N router brings it all home!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked fine for years and the price was right.

Cons: It's draft-N. If you want one today, get one with final 802.11n. I never noticed compatibility issues with wireless N clients but better to be on the safe side.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat... for the first 6 months.

Pros: -Great design (Stand vertically, mount, etc)
-Lots of options with the web admin interface

Cons: -Wireless connections drop frequently. It lasted about 6 months before becoming almost unusable.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this thing for a while now, and it's done nothing but get worse over time. It was a bad investment choice and I regret it.

2 out of 5 eggsAnother bad wireless router

Pros: Worked great when originally purchased but performance quickly degraded.

Cons: I have had this wireless router for about 2 years now and the performance has been getting increasingly worse as time goes on. Drops connections constantly on wifi dvd player, cell phones, laptops, tablets and all other wifi products. Has latest firmware and all settings are set to what Trendnet has recommended. Extremely disappointed and now I have to purchase another router.

Other Thoughts: If there is a known issue which has been posted on many forums and product reviews, why hasn't trendnet resolved the issue? I understand that the device is almost 2 years old but that doesn't mean that my $90 device should no longer be supported.

5 out of 5 eggsBest router I've used to date!

Pros: This router has been absolutely rock solid in the 3+ years I've had it. Easy setup, amazing speed, and 100% reliability. I haven't reset OR power cycled the router since installing it 3+ years ago. Sadly, I can't say the same for the Linksys, Netgear, and D-Link routers I have owned (over 9 different routers ranging from budget to $125+).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I will be buying a TRENDnet GREENnet gigabit switch to expand my network.

2 out of 5 eggsFaulty Design

Pros: Sleak looking, many options, Gigabit

Cons: starts to lock up after a few months

Other Thoughts: I have had this product RMA'd. The first unit would not pass traffic from wireless to outbound. The second unit freezes up regularly and needs to be reset. It was awesome router when it worked but now it is more of a pain.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Wireless N, WPA2, Gig Ethernet, Never drops signal.
Cheap.
Only slows down once every blue moon from over heating. Restart and its back to full speed.
Gaming has been flawless with lan parties on the same CSS/BFBC2/L4D2 server (6 people computers all wireless).

Cons: May have the same innards as the DIR655, and actually nearly the same software, but doesn't quite hit the same up/down speeds as my friend does on his DIR655.

Other Thoughts: Had this router for about 2 years now.
If you can find it, for the love of g-d buy it. Legit best deal period. Longest lasting, highest performance, router I have ever used. My friends DIR655 crps out sometimes when lan partying, this does not. While not having top speeds, it stays strong, lol.
Only step up there is for throughput and gaming: WNDR3700 or WNDR37AV
But as stated above, 2 years strong and still <3

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't last

Pros: When it functions properly, it works pretty fast, getting speeds as high as 270 Mbps on average and upto 300 Mbps (much more rare).

Cons: Unfortunately, after having it for a couple years, the reliability is terrible. I have to power-cycle the router almost daily. I contacted Trendnet Micro which solved this problem at first my essentially slowing down the router so that it worked at 802.11g speeds.

Other Thoughts: Keep in mind that I probably put a fairly high load on the router, because I have a server with 6 VMs connected to it, another physical box and several other computers and devices connected wirelessly to it.

1 out of 5 eggsRMA #2

Pros: cheap

Cons: LAN to WAN stops randomly - can prove it by unplugging desktop from router and plugging into cable modem good connection. Also wireless stops - meaning no longer can see SSID broadcast even using netscanning equipment. This is the 2nd unit that this issue has come up with.

Other Thoughts: Trendnet does not offer advance replacement even if you have an ongoing issue and have to RMA mulitple times. They expect you to go without a router for several weeks while they process your RMA. Don't recommend purchasing any of their equipment due to customer service or lack there of.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid router

Pros: Rock solid router.

Cons: Software not so hot.

Other Thoughts: I have a pretty extensive set up at home and have a lot of wireless gadgets lurking around. This router has performed well. My home is 1,700 square feet, single story and the router lives in a corner room. No issues at all receiving a signal on the other side of the house. Security setup is decent, although you do need to have some knowledge of wireless security to make use of the available options.
