2 out of 5 eggsbuffalo? nty.

Pros: for the first 9 months i owned this router it functioned excellent. dropped connection maybe once.

Cons: after 9 months it has started to drop the connection daily, sometimes hourly. used to be able to turn power off and on to fix it, but now have to do a hard reset every time i want to use it for several hours

Other Thoughts: if you only need a router for a few months i would recomend it, but if youre looking for a long term commitment, buy something else

1 out of 5 eggsWorst router your money could buy.

Pros: Good white shiny case.

Cons: * Absolutely horrible web interface. Needs to reboot at every minor configuration change.
* Flaky hardware. One fine day the RED diag light just lit up, wireless mode stopped working and soon the wired functionality too died.
* Absolutely worst customer support - minimum hold time of 20 minutes and even then CSR plays games of switch from one person to another and drop the call.
* Got a replacement device which died the same way in less than 10 days. When I called again I was told that it was a refurbished router and was tested before sent out.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this router and this company altogether. You will save lots of money and have peace of mind by choosing some other brand.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Router!

Pros: Worked litterly out of the box, i just had to configure the wireless connection. This is the longest router to last so far, at around 5 months. D-link lasted 2 months,(replacement lasted a week) Linksys-3days....

Cons: Sometimes needs to be reset, or it freezes on you, it used to do it everyday, until i updtaed my firmware, then maybe once a month or so it would stop working(normally at night after a long day of gaming :)) I gave it 4 stars because of the freezes. Some of the features the router has i find unneeded. AOSS is useless,(just froze router when i tried to enable) but i really dont need it.

Other Thoughts: Should have gone with Buffalo a long time ago, cheap and great quality, their customer support isnt all that bad either(the person that emailed an RMA...call them you'll get alot farther.) I would definantly buy a gaming router from buffalo if they came out with one.

1 out of 5 eggsbad product/bad cust service

Pros: Set up with no special tweaks right out of the box but only worked for a few months.

Cons: Wireless would go out & then had to do a repair to get it back & this started happening frequently, as in minutes. Uninstalled & reinstalled several times. Once uninstalled would pick up IP address from router. Was on hold with Buffalo for almost an hour without talking to anyone. Finally emailed and got quick response for a tweak that worked for 30 min then same cycle again. Wired would hold for a little longer, but not much. Finally bought different router/brand & it works GREAT!

Other Thoughts: Won't use Buffalo again. Since I've emailed asking for RMA they haven't replied & that was 4 days ago.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome router, great Newegg deal

Pros: Being newer to the home broadband arena, I also needed a wireless router so I could operate other computers in the house, and this was the ticket. No idea of who to go with, but coming to Newegg, Buffalo clearly had one of the best reputations--and I see why now. Fantastic speeds, unbelievable range, and just invisibly reliable.

Cons: As great as it works, the instructions and CD's included are awful for anyone but the most skilled in wireless networking. Despite my strong computer knowledge, at first I had no idea how the actually "set up" any of the routers (I have 2) because the instruction manual starts going somewhere...then doesn't. And the CD's included have worthless utilities that also aren't clear to even install, and when done, don't work. I did no after the fact flashing, just wanted a strong, safe connection. Eventually figured out entering the routers IP address and playing around with options from there--but even from the instructions, you'd be hard pressed to know that.

Other Thoughts: Awesome quality and reputation from Buffalo, brought to the market for a fantastic price by Newegg. Just come up with actual instructions, a proper setup tips list, or even CD's with anything worthwhile, and the experience for those unfamiliar with the intricacies of wireless networking might actually be able to figure it out on the first try. Still, very pleased, at least after weeks of self discovery.

5 out of 5 eggsGood router, great price!

Pros: Lots of features, quick setup, very reliable (hasn't needed to be restarted yet!). It supports very strong encryption as well as some additional filtering options. Also has a wireless activity light and a diagnostic light. It also seems to be very resilient to attack from the internet, or at least better than my old router. The unit is also very nice looking, I like the upright design.

Cons: I had to update the firmware, just like everyone else says. Also, kind of an annoying feature, it has the link lights for the wired ports on the rear of the device. You can't see them unless you turn the router around. It also seems to take a long time to restart after you make a change to the settings. Nothing too serious though.

Other Thoughts: It has a large high gain antenna but the range is no better than other routers. It doesn't really have enough power to go farther. It works well all throughout my house though.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value

Pros: Advanced features in a value package. Hi gain antenna, privatized connections

Cons: Proprietary hi speed (125Mbps), Great @ 54Mbps.

Other Thoughts: As a wireless G router it is fantastic. Going with buffalo hi speed devices is still a lot cheaper than MIMO devices. This router has great security features (802.1x, IPSEC, power reduction, and you can disable access to the configuration over wireless.

5 out of 5 eggsStill great after 9 months

Pros: Bought this back in November of '06, immediately flashed it with dd-wrt v23 SP2 for a cheap, feature-packed, WPA2 solution. Recently updated to v24 beta and am enjoying the virtual SSID feature for using WPA2 and WEP-only (e.g. Nintendo DS) devices simultaneously. Never had a problem with range in and out of the house--even "borrowed" its antenna once to use on one of my machines temporarily, and was suprised that *all* of my wireless devices around the house could still connect to it! (Albeit with reduced signal strength). Nowadays there are more WPA2 options in this price range, but taking a chance on Buffalo and dd-wrt back then was one of the better choices I've made.

Cons: When I bought this, it didn't have WPA2--it doesn't look like this has changed.
