Bad Reception with Dell Inspiron 4150
- Pros: Internal mini-pci card means no dangling pcmcia cards
- Cons: Terrible reception in my Dell Inspiron 4150. I'd hoped to replace my old PCMCIA card with something that supported WPA, but my download speeds (via Clearwire as ISP) went from ~800kbps to ~100kbps. The PCMCIA card gets an excellent signal, this one barely gets one at all. Too bad.
- Other Thoughts: Probably a decent card, but not for Dell Inspiron 4150s.
- Pros: Good price, installed easily, quick new egg shipping.
- Cons: Did not work with my laptop since I have a Toughbook that has a metal casing. So toughbook owners beware that you will have to do some mods to get this to work.
- Other Thoughts: If you don't have a Toughbook, go for it.
Decent Cheap Upgrade
- Pros: Replaced a Dell Truemobile 802.11b mini-pci in a Latitude C640 with this card. Easy install. Downloaded latest driver from website. Recognized quickly. Interface is a little funky (hate the tray icon), but it works. Moderately good signal strength.
- Cons: Signal strength seems to waver a bit too much when relatively close to the router.
