Pros: Superb speed, especially in Windows 7.
Cons: Hit & Miss usability.
Like "Disappointed", I bought three of these myself, and one worked beautifully in a S939 BioStar 6100-M9. A second card in the same type of board works, but when I tried using that same card, and the third one I bought, in a 1U SuperMicro P4D6C system, and in a Gigabyte S939 K8 system, both systems would continuously drop packets and fail transfers, making any kind of consistent network transfers impossible. NICs on these systems are not an issue, because other cards work fine.
Lack of updated drivers or explanation of issues encountered with reliability from Encore.
Other Thoughts: I decided to keep all three since I have five systems I regularly use, and fortunately, I have three that will work with this card.
Although the cards did fail miserably in multiple systems, when they work, they are outstanding. I can hit between 60-70MB/sec over a SATA1 RAID0 pulling down to a SATA2 HDD.
It does not appear to make any difference in using the Windows 7-detected RealTek driver, and the bundled 1320 driver included on the disc - there are no appreciable differences in reliability in systems in which the card did not work, and no performance differences in the systems that did work.
Tested operating systems included Windows XP SP2, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP2, Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit, and Ubuntu Linux v8.10, 9.04, and 9.10.
This card appears to have issues with certain motherboards, as no combination of the three cards worked in any of the systems that did not like them.
Overall, a great card for the price, but with finicky hardware relia

Pros: Price.
Cons: I bought two of these cards. After I installed the first card into a Dell Inspiron 530, the machine would not boot, making a strange clicking noises. I removed the first card and installed the second one. This time the Dell successfully booted into Windows 7 and installed it's drivers. After 12 different attempted network transfers every transfer dropped, saying connection was lost. I sent both back to newegg. I don't recommend these NICs at all.
Other Thoughts: The problem did not appear to be driver related. The first card crashed the system, however, the second card, at first, appeared to intall correctly, but would constantly lose it's connection. In addition, optaining a IP address was slow. Horrible NIC!
