4 out of 5 eggsWorks well with Xbox 360

Pros: Works well with Xbox 360 as long as you set it up with a computer first.

Cons: Requires setup before use with 360.

5 out of 5 eggsWireless networking without driver hassles

Pros: An easy way to wirelessly network a Linux or legacy Windows system without driver hassles.

Highly flexible since it can be used as either a wireless bridge or a WAP.

Has both Windows and Web GUI's for configuration. Both work well.

Mac address forwarding is a handy since you can hot swap from wired to wireless without the router knowing.

Can obtain power from the USB port which saves a space on a power strip.

Cons: It runs a little hot.

When used as a bridge you need to change its IP address to not conflict with the address of the other router! This is the one gotcha I found.

Other Thoughts: New Egg ships really fast since I got this the day after I ordered it!

3 out of 5 eggsAcess Point

Pros: NIC very easy to set up. Was purchased as a cheaper version then buying a Xbox 360 wireless network card.

Cons: Had to manually enter my DNS for my XBox 360 because XBox 360 could not establish it automatically through the NIC. Simple fix.

Other Thoughts: To steam HI-Def content through this thing, i had to find the highest point in my media center for it to sit because its signal is easily disturbed by my television. Might want to keep that in mind when you set this thing up. Anything wireless for that matter.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work for me

Pros: Small size, USB powered.

Cons: Wouldn't work in bridge mode with WEP or WPA-PSK.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to like this cool little unit. It's small and seems well designed. But I worked for hours to get it to connect to my access point (Proxim AP-700) in bridge mode (Ethernet adapter mode) and the only way it would connect is with NO WEP or WPA, totally open. When I turned on WEP or WPA-PSK on my access point, the ASUS would never connect. Since I'm not interested in running an insecure wireless network, I had to RMA it. Too bad.

It's possible I received a defective unit, I don't know. I'm going to try a Bxxxalo WLI-TX4-G54HP Converter instead.

4 out of 5 eggswould buy another

Pros: good range, easy to set up and when paired with Asus wl107g pcmcia card no dropped connections within 50 feet interior of building.

Cons: I agree with prior reviewer about the IP address the manufacturer selected.

Other Thoughts: Easiest to set up by connecting the adaptor to your NIC connection on your computer.

As usual NewEgg service was GREAT!

5 out of 5 eggsBest thing I have seen yet

Pros: Took me less then 5 mins to setup. I have tried many other wireless adaptors and this one is the best. With its small design and usb power cable it cant get any better.

Cons: There are no cons in my book.

Other Thoughts: I didnt even use the software that came with it. I plugged it in and went into my internet browser and typed the ip address of the Wireless adaptor and boom there it was very easy to configure.

5 out of 5 eggsA dream come true!

Pros: This baby is a true life saver indeed.
Not just is it small & compact, its a real breeze to set up & configure.
Unless you are a true technophobe who doesn't know how to read the freaking manual.
You also need to know the tech jargon of a WiFi setup, as there is no online help system and the web interface is different than the Windows setup.
But if you know what you're doing, its a cake walk.

Cons: Tech support from ASUS for this baby sucks.
The people there don't even know the contents of the box correctly ("no, that cable shouldn't be there").

Other Thoughts: This baby does get HOT, but unless you burry it under a pillow, it shouldn't cause any problems.
Just make sure it gets properly ventilated.
If you have a modern day Laptop, you should be able to power it of the USB port with the included cable (which tech support stated shouldn't be included in the 1st place).

5 out of 5 eggs2yrs+ Still going strong

Pros: Easy user use (not setup).
Small, unobtrusive design.

Cons: Not simple to program (easy for user to use afterward though)

You MUST understand wired and wireless networks to configure properly

Other Thoughts: Excellent unit. Has solved our company's guest network access issues without having to install drivers or give out PSK to visitors.

Only suggestion I would have for ASUS is adding an optional antenna jack or semi-rigid wire antenna. May be even a mini-tripod hardpoint like on the bottom of a camera.

I have modified ours with mini "chip clips" to allow them to clamp lightly to the LCD display of laptops. Works very well.

2 out of 5 eggs5 hour horror show to setup

Pros: Small and unobtrusive
Nice ethernet stub cable
Convenient power supply

Cons: Runs very hot, hope it lasts
Take 4ever to lock on to my wireless router if an ethernet printer is behind it.

Not IP reachable from any computer unless you are "behind" the device on its Ethernet.

Flaky behavior when used as Ethernet print server.

Maddeningly install: conflicts with router since 192.168.1.1, not addressable from the outside; even its own tool won't find it, and then it works like a champ with laptop but then fails to connect for 10 mins for my printer, but then eventually does. Lots of intermittent and strange behaviours. I should have stuck to Linksys or Netgear convetional

Other Thoughts: What a horror show. Do not attempt to configure this device for Ethernet Adapter by plugging it into your hub. Since the dummies gave it a 192.168.1.1 default it will mess up your LAN. Configure it directly from your computer.

Another confusing thing is once you give a better IP address you can't reach the device unless you are behind it on its Ethernet port. I am using this for a print server so once I plug it into the HP Colorjet 2600n it is unreachable unless I plug it back into my laptop.

It works great with a laptop, almost instantly. However once I switch the connection the printer, the Ethernet light goes out an takes about a minute restor. The wireless light also goes out and take about 15 mins, yes 15mins to create a link with my wireless router. If I switch back to my laptop everything reestablishes in seconds. I am runing 64 bit WEP. There is obviously something wrong with its support for my HP 2600n ethernet interface.
