- Pros: Longevity.
- Cons: None as of yet.
- Other Thoughts: Reviewer "T.W." possibly works for H.P.? Being a field service engineer for a high-tech medical imaging company, we engineers are supplied with Toshiba laptops exclusively and have been for years. I have had the Tecra 8000 series laptop, the T9100, and now the M5 (not the M6). The average time of ownership is ~3 years before being replaced. I have "never" had a problem with any of my Toshiba laptops that warranted sending in for repair, and we carry these everyday. Maybe "T.W." out to consider treating his laptops with a little more TLC which includes keeping/carrying it in a well padded travel case. But to say Toshiba laptops are "notoriously" delicate is a bit of a stretch...imho.
Good Laptop...
- Pros: Toshibas have been good to me - own three now - nice features, price and so on. This machine is light and small for the price point, and has features to rival the big n heavy lappys
- Cons: Way, way, way, way ..... too much junk installed on this machine - it had 71 processes running when I started it up and was using 280M of 500M RAM - it took several hours to first create backup discs (CD's - it doesn't have a DVD burner) and then remove all the junk - several items McAf..e and A*L were very persistent, required too much effort to uninstall them
- Other Thoughts: For this price I figured I couldn't go wrong, and I am very happy with the Toshiba - also the MS One Note software it includes is nice - just need to lose some of the junkware

Excellent
- Pros: Nice bright screen. Small and lightweight. Extremely fast. Cool fingerprint tech. Hassle free wireless and wired technology. No setup required. Thanks newegg for fast processing!
- Cons: Occasional freezing (probably because i try to play too much games on this thing)
- Other Thoughts: Not a gaming laptop and definitely get a 1 GB memory upgrade. A pretty good laptop for college.
Good business laptop
- Pros: Windows XP Pro was a big plus and it runs very smoothly. The battery life is quite good, on the long life settings I easily get more than 4 hours. Pretty quick start-up once you remove all the annoying pre-installed software. Solid design and light.
- Cons: As other have noted, lots of pre-installed software, some of which is a pain to uninstall. 512 MB RAM is a little low and I do wish it came with a DVD burner. The fingerprint reader doesn't seem all that useful.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this because it was a reasonably light, yet quick laptop for a very reasonable price. I'm quite pleased with what I got.
Great value for money, but....
- Pros: *Processor (Core Duo) is fast for a laptop
*weighs only 5 pounds!

*Great battery life (4+ hrs w/ WiFi)
*Fingerprint reader!!
*Good keypad
*Good Toshiba technical assistance
*Does not get hot unlike Dell, HP and Sony notebooks
*80 GB 5400 rpm is good for laptop

- Cons: *Delicate - my laptop initially would shut down if moved slightly. Had to send back to Toshiba to fix the problem.
*no DVI port (isn't a big deal)
*512MB DDR2 just isn't good enough
- Other Thoughts: In short, this laptop is a great value for money. However, it is very delicate. You have to be careful while moving it around. If you are looking for a good bargain, this is your pick. But.. remember it is not as reliable as ThinkPads.
