Pros: This laptop is very closely related to the Acer Ferrari 4000 albeit with a clocked down x700 with slower memory (also half as much) which makes this unit lag behind in 3d performance. 3dmark05 score is about 1500 which is not very good. The build quality is very good, and the screen doesn't have the glare of the crystalbrite screens. Performance from the CPU is good, not as good as a dual core of course. Wireless is very strong, unit is good looking (even better in person).

Cons: SLOW HD, 4200RPM, I swapped it for a 7200RPM and that really made this thing move. Memory is 2x512 so upgrading will be costly. Screen is bright but really lacks contrast. Silver finish scratches easily. 3d performance is not very incredible. The laptop does get hot under load but only when you stress the GPU and CPU at the same time. Undervolting the CPU with crystalCPUID resolved the heat issue entirely for me.

Other Thoughts: My unit shipped with a bad video card (thermal issue of some kind) but was repaired under warranty within 10 days, which is really good. Tech support was top notch with my issue. I would actually recommend the Acer Aspire 5672 over this model since it is cheaper and faster in many ways, but this unit is still very good; I'm very happy with mine.

Nice laptop

Pros: It run very smooth and I have had no problems.

Cons: The heating issue is true but I expected this with these kind of parts, but it only give heating problem when use it in a spot that is not a flat surface/blocking the cooling but they could have done a better cooling job.

Acer TM4404

Pros: All around good package if you're looking for a desktop replacement or a gaming laptop. I have been using it mainly for school (Word, Internet Applications, Music), but it is capable of cleanly running WoW and other newer games with decent FPS (download new drivers for the x700 card). Clear, bright screen came with zero dead pixels and has remained that way. Decent speakers. Wireless is consistent and can be turned on/off through the laptop. The card reader is useful for storage, especially if you use a digital camera on a regular basis and need to quickly upload pics. Owned the laptop and used on a daily basis for 6 months without any problems.

Cons: Poor ventilation leads to overheating. The intake fan is on the bottom of the laptop, so it can be easily blocked by your leg, a blanket, or whatever. Also, the exhaust fan is noisier than i'd like it to be. Overheating is probably the main problem for most users, and can lead to video failure on graphics-intensive applications, requiring a restart.

Other Thoughts: Good laptop geared towards college students or others who want to use a laptop both for work and play. I would recommend investing in a cooling pad to prevent the problems discussed above, and an additional chip of RAM to boost performance if you intend on gaming.
