Great Laptop
- Pros: This laptop is a great deal for what it comes with. XP pro, 512 ram, DVD burner, and a powerful processor. The battery life seems to average 2 1/2 hours. The wide/large screen is great for recording. The large screen makes the laptop itself large. Acer makes top quality gear. AMD!
Also, this laptop works well under Unix/Linux. I have run knopix many times on this. I had some issues finding the right screen settings but once i got it, it is clear as a bell.
If interested, the *nix settings are(xorg):

- Cons: Sometimes the screen has glare issues. It depends on your surroundings. AT work I have a window behind me, so on grey days I have to find the perfect brightness and tilt to see the screen without seeing what is behind me. Fat32 is the default file system, which can be a pain for large files and large numbers of small files. -1 point for the glare issues.
- Other Thoughts: Sometimes I wish I had gotten a 14 inch laptop so that is would have been more convenient for travel. However, the large screen pros outweigh the cons of having a screen that is too small.
Excellent monitor!
- Pros: The turion 64bit processors are very stable as far as I can see and the DVD RW works very well even at only 8x.Shared video is good for most applications but gaming might be an issue for high-end games. The supplied memory is ample but I prefer 1Gig or more and this puppy will max out at 2Gig (one day). The most impressive feature for me is the CrystalBrite screen on this thing, movies look stunning. The internal wireless card works very well also. Overall a very good laptop.
- Cons: There is no firewire, the speakers are, well- typical laptop speakers not even headphones work well. There is no bluetooth either.
- Other Thoughts: I will just install a pcmcia bluetooth card and be perfectly content.
A great value laptop.
- Pros: The pros of this laptop are the processor & the beautiful screen. Movies look very nice and the proprietary software Acer provides is very user friendly. I added 1 Gig of memory to my laptop and bumped the shared video memory to 128mb from 64mb and it moves quite well I think. The battery does last about 2 1/2 hours which is fine by me. The quad vision option is nice if you need to view multiple docs at once.
- Cons: The only peeve I have about this laptop would be the speakers. You can hear them but movies would sound better with either headphones or external speakers.
- Other Thoughts: I had to use the provided recovery discs almost as soon as I got this thing. I don't blame Newegg for this but Acer for distributing the laptop as so. After I used the recovery discs this thing ran very smooth. If you experience constant restarting because of memory errors or other blue screen related errors I suggest running the recovery discs first before RMA'ing because it only takes about 30 minutes to complete and should be enough to clear up any initial issues such as these.
