Awesome Laptop!!
- Pros: Beautiful display, slot-loading Pioneer burner, dual core processing, lots of USB ports, X1600 video
- Cons: Gets a little warm even after having removed the hard plastic film; I really don't like the audio input/outputs up front. FAT32 formatting
- Other Thoughts: This is the best bang-for-buck laptop I could find. While it may not be an Core 2 Duo, it still performs well at nearly half the price. I ended up dumping the XP Home Edition and Reinstalled XP Pro (after repartitioning the drive NTFS and into a 27GB and and 80GB setup); the hunt for drivers was simple. While it doesn't crank out the 21,812 point PCWizard score that my brothers 2Ghz Core 2 Duo laptob (rhymes with Bell)cranks out, it did deliver 13,520, which was well above the 8200 my P4 2.66 delivers. The video card as decent enough for a laptop although I'd prefer the Nvidia GO7600 instead.
Best Bang For Your Buck!!!!
- Pros: FAST, FAST, FAST! This laptop is everything I had hoped it to be. The picture is crisp and clear, sound is great, and it plays games like a dream. Decent battery life, and it doesn't weight a ton. The air that is blown out the right vent is pretty warm, but overall the laptop internaly stays pretty cool.You don't hve to but like the others below and my self included I would buy some artic silver 5 and replace the stock paste on the cpu. It does help the CPU stay cooler and cool faster.
- Cons: The only bad things I have about this laptop is that it comes with XP Home not Pro, and that the two 60gb partitions are FAT32 and not NTFS, (an easy fix if you have an XP disc). Other than that this laptop is perfect.
- Other Thoughts: Just for added performance I upgraded the ram to 2gb so I can play games like Quake 4 more smoothly.
Terrible
- Pros: Sleek appearance.
- Cons: Heat issues
- Other Thoughts: I've had to return this computer to Acer TWICE for repair and it is still having problems. Don't count on this machine lasting very long. And certainly don't count on Acer's repair depot to correct issues. Terrible product.
