5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Ive bought quite a few of these and added an extra stick of 512 MB. Im very impressed with the performance and price. My last one booted up in less than 15 seconds. I know most people get Dells or HPs/Compaqs, but you may want to try something different...you will get the same performance at a lower price.

Cons: 1. No Recovery Media or XP Disk.
2. Acer uses FAT32 on primary partition. This is a disadvantage to many people since most like NTFS. Since I do experiments all the time, and in my opinion, FAT32 offers faster boot times and performs faster. Dont just read reviews, always do the tests yourself since evrybody will have different opinions.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: bright screen, lightweight, wireless lan, many useful apps come with the computer

Cons: speakers are a bit low, 256mb of ram isn't enough for it to run well

Other Thoughts: i put 512 along with the 256 and now it purrs like a kitty

4 out of 5 eggsValue and Upgradability

Pros: Excellent value. Wifi and RAM modules, hard disk very easy to upgrade (with parts fron newegg of course!) as they have their own access covers.

Cons: Keyboard layout is slightly curved, making it a bit harder for touch typists used to straight rows of keys. It's a bit big and battery life a bit short for purely mobile computing.

5 out of 5 eggsAcer TravelMate

Pros: Great price, much faster than i had projected. Very cool software provided by Acer with system tools, great for inexperenced people.

Cons: What's the deal with the two FAT32 partitions... anyway easily fixed, just opened the cmd and ran a CONVERT (FIND VOLULME NAME with vol then run: "CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS" and "CONVERT: D: /FS:NTFS" then repartitioned them as one. No data lost. you should probably opt to not force vols to unmount, but let it do it when you reboot the system)

Other Thoughts: More RAM. 256 runs great with the system but gaming will require at least 256 more.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Budget Laptop!

Pros: Nice, clear widescreen... no dead pixels. Good solid keyboard. Runs whisper quiet. This laptop is very light and portable for on the go. SATA interface hard drive! Internal Wireless Card (54Mb/s). All in all this laptop is a great deal at a great price. Highly recommend!

As always, Newegg Rocks with Delivery & Service!!! Glad to see they have improved on the 3-day UPS shipping!

Cons: 256MB memory... recommend getting at least another 256MB. Touchpad is a little different than I'm used to, has more of a rectangle shape.

Other Thoughts: Hard Drive is partitioned into (2) Fat32 partitions... easily fixed though.
