5 out of 5 eggsGreat tablet pc for the money

Pros: -Fast!! Runs my engineering apps and games very nicely!
-Geforce 6200 go
-1gb of ram is great to have
-Great form factor
-Beatiful screen! It looks gorgeous
-DVD Burner on such a small tablet is also great

Overall I like the tablet a lot, very nicely balanced. And the sliding mechanism is very sturdy.

Cons: -4200rpm hard drives causes some lag in things...
-Battery life is only average ~2 hours with the 6 cell on max settings, get the Media Bay Battery!
-Bad speakers/microphone. Very low volume.
-No SVIDEO.

Other Thoughts: It's a great laptop, I use it regularly in school to take notes down, and needed the raw horsepower for running my engineering applications and some games on the side. It does everything exceptionally well!

5 out of 5 eggsBest tablet you can purchase

Pros: The sliding track is brilliant and so much sturdier and quicker than the ones your rotate. And for some reason, this design made the price cheaper.

Bluetooth is wonderful, the scroll wheel is a little awkward but handy once you get used to it. The tablet buttons make sense and the biometric reader is a great feature and not that hard to use. I usually use my right thumb in notebook mode and right or left index finger while in tablet mode.

Great specs on this machine and it works great for gaming and performs almost as well as my boyfriend's desktop. Graphics are beautifully on it though.

Screen is nice and bright and the resolution is great. I know 1024x768 sounds small but.. it's a 12" screen. If that's not good enough, hook it up to an external monitor. I think anything higher than that on this size of a screen would be terrible and I come from much higher resolutions than that.

The slot loading dvd burner is brilliant. No flimsy disc tray!

Cons: The hard drive comes preformated into two 50GB (respectively) partitions, Fat32 formated. Step one was to get rid of that though getting some features working after that was a little tricky. Make sure you install all of the drivers and such on the system disc after the restoring since it doesn't do that automatically. Launch Manager controls your tablet buttons and something else on their got the scroll wheel. I haven't quite figured out the automatic screen rotation again yet. It's been off an on.

Acer tech support is lacking. Wait times weren't more than 10 or 15 minutes but they weren't especially knowledgable.

The other downside depends on whether or not you're using an external mouse. If you're right handed, the fan will blow a fair amount of warm air right about where you keep your hand so I've had to move for that.

Other Thoughts: 9-cell media bay battery and weight saver module (which is just a filler for the media bay) can be ordered directly from Acer. If you're looking for a screen protector, I did find them at nushield.com though having one isn't really needed.

Also, it seems like the fabric cover that covers the screen would be a bad idea but it's worked out fine. It's very sturdy and covers the screen fine. Plus, it then folds underneath it if you want it on your lap or hand to keep it a little cooler. It's a little warm but not that bad.

Great purchase!

1 out of 5 eggsSmall and "Powerfull"

Pros: Very nice compact setup.

Cons: Doesn't work, locks up, CPU speed says 2.0 I think that's meg not gig. Very unrelaible fingerprint software very intrusive.

Other Thoughts: Be aware! NewEgg does not take back notebooks! I found out too late.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Tablet, But Dissapointed

Pros: Great Speed, Nice media bay battery option, solid and smooth sliding track, and all it's cool little gizmo's. Works like it should...for the most part.

Cons: Angle of biometric reader makes it hard to scan when in keyboard mode, no solid screen protection, horrible mic and speaker, and fan is a little louder than most (the biggest problem with the fan is that it overpowers the mic right next to it and make recording useless)

Other Thoughts: overall, with all the features like bluetooth and biometrics, i love it, i'd gladly accept the cons for the pro's on this...but one thing that came up about a week ago...when you let up the pen in tablet mode, the curser jumps to the bottom left corner and continuesly clicks whatever is under it. thanx to newegg for paid overnight shipping on RMA replacement!!!

5 out of 5 eggsEsp Great for artists

Pros: No Swivel quick transitions
Keyboard mode has a stable baking so you can control the pressure sensitivity in keyboard mode.
well built

Cons: Sound is really quiet need headphones or ext speaker
no svideo

Other Thoughts: there are other battery packs out there to extend the lifetime. as a designer and artist, i will never go back to a regular laptop. The unique screen transition is absolutely essential for keyboard mode.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: -Blazing fast, loaded laptop.
-It's a TABLET PC!! (once you go tablet, you'll never go back, I've been using tablets since the compaq TC1000 was still compaq and not compaq/HP)
-Lightweight pen with pressure -sensitivity and eraser!
-Great Price (can't beat it)
-Biometric log-in (cool!)

Cons: -Biometric use takes some getting used to
-fan noise is noticeable.
-a little heavy for a tablet (but light for something this powerful)
-Core Duo's are out now, so even a 760 isn't as great as it used to be

Other Thoughts: Acer's quality is great for their high end stuff. And you can't configure a comprable Toshiba without adding $xxx to the Acer's price-tag. And finally, with the price differences b/w tablets and regular laptops becoming so negligible, you'd be crazy not to get a tablet! MS needs to get the word out on these guys before Apple beats them to the punch with their own tablet pc. It'll be ipod all over again.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: All the tablet functons and the biometric part of the laptop work great and i have no problems with it. i definitely love having a laptop that can burn DVD's and a 100gb HD so that i actually have room to place DVD's to burn. Also the ability to set up power profiles based on whether it is running on AC or the battery is handy. Even if you dont set up the profiles, adjusting CPU speed and screen brightness is very quick and there are external buttons that can be pressed to turn on/off the wireless and the bluetooth card (it does not get unintentially pushed). one odd advantage is that there is a button near the power button that is basically a CTRL+ALT+DEL and so its a one button press to get to the task manager.

Cons: The volume of the speakers and headphone jack are quite low. i need to put the laptop volume up to max and whichever media player i have to its maximum just to get it to play at a normal volume. The only video out is a VGA so you cant hook it up to a TV easily if you say, wanted to watch a video on something bigger than a 12" screen. One that would have convinced me to buy another model had i thought about it earlier was that the screen basically has 2 positions only. up and flat. the up angle is perfect if you use it on your lap but when its placed on a desk, you need to move up close to it so that the angle is correct (what i did was place large books behind it and have the back rest on it, almost like a ramp). sometimes, you need the screen to tilt a bit more downward for example if i put my laptop on my desk and i try to recline in my chair, i cant see the screen well because of the angle restriction.

Other Thoughts: im not too sure if some of the background applications that run, are there because this is a tablet or if it is because this is an acer tablet. there are 5 icon in the icon tray that i wish werent there and only 1 i like (the power management one). there are 4 buttons next to the keyboard that use an acer program and doesnt seem to be programed easily.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat tablet with some room for improvement

Pros: -Fast
-standalone graphics processor
-integral DVD burner
-Bright and sharp screen
-comfortable keyboard
-Does not get too hot on the bottom
-built-in wireless and bluetooth

Cons: -4200 rpm hard drive
-Average battery life (~2 hrs with the 6 cell battery at maximum performance setting)
-somewhat noisy fan
-low quality speakers and microphone
-no s-video output
-software bundle could be better

Other Thoughts: I had previously owned the Toshiba M205, and though it was slightly lighter, I like this one better. It is fast, has a great screen, and a DVD burner.
The screen has a relatively rigid cover, so protecting it, despite the sliding track design, shouldn't be a problem unless you are really careless.
Though I couldn't find it on the web yet, it is supposed to have the option to replace the DVD burner with a battery that supposedly lasts 8 hrs long.

The problem is the HD. Why would you put a 4200rpm HD on such a high-end tablet? Despite the 1GB of memory, I can sometimes sense lagging.

The fan is slightly noisy, but this is only perceptible if you are located somewhere silent. Also, do not expect to get great sounding or loud music out of the speakers. In addition, the microphone is lacking, so don't expect voice recognition to work that well without using a
higher quality peripheral microphone.
