So Far So Good
- Pros: I have had this laptop since Christmas. I am very pleased with this product. For what I paid, it cant be beat. I was pleased to see that there was very little third party software cramming up the hard drive. The Acer Empowering Technology is the only third party software aside from the CD/DVD burning software which was welcomed. It is great to have a web cam attached to the laptop. I like the little scroller thingy by the touchpad. It is small things like this that make this a great laptop. I would reccommend this laptop to anyone looking for a laptop but not willing to pay a lot of money.
- Cons: As with any laptop or desktop, they are a bunch of parts made by different manufactures. So the laptop is only as good as the vendors used. I am getting an error message in the event viewer that the CD ROM has a bad block. Sometimes when I am watching movies, they freeze up and I get that error message. My warranty will cover the replacement of the drive. I have to ship it to Acer and they will make the repairs and ship back to me. I will miss it while its gone.
- Other Thoughts: The keyboard is very easy to type on and the touchpad mouse is very responsive. As far as Vista is concerned, I would wait to atleast the first service pack is released before upgrading. I have seen Vista run on a laptop with 512 mb of memory just fine. But I believe more memory is always better. Max it out.
Solid performance for the price...
- Pros: Solid machine for the price. It's not dual core but it's still quick especially for a single core. Umm...it's not a Dell...
- Cons: The graphics chipset leaves a little to be desired but with a bit of tweaking it will run most anything...especially source engine games. The speakers kind of suck but since it is a laptop that is to be expected.
- Other Thoughts: I recommend getting this thing upgraded to 2gb+ of RAM if you intend to stick with Vista. On 1gb Vista is kind of sluggish and this is amplified a bit due to the X1100 leeching for extra vRAM.

Video Card Issues
- Pros: The laptop's hardware is great for the price. I would suggest people to invest money on 2gig of ram, which will come out to be a few more bucks. I expected the laptop to be slightly lighter than the specifications. I am not sure people's issues with Vista, but I don't run into many issues. I find it pretty much as XP with some visual aero effects.
- Cons: Video card has issues. I am not sure if anyone has experienced, but I cannot bootup my laptop while plugged in. The video card doesn't respond, lits the screen, but pictures start to appear minutes later. It starts grainy then it fixes itself after a couple of bad frames. The battery life stinks! It will not last on not even an hour and 30 minutes at minimum settings. That is horrible!
- Other Thoughts: I might have to return this laptop to ACER, and have them change the video card to a new one. Besides this issue, I like it and would recommend it again.
DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER
- Pros: None. This product was a problem after a problem for every step of the process.
- Cons: The computer broke down three weeks after purchase. ACER refused to repair the computer, unless I agreed to pay for shipping both ways. They told me that this was industry standard. Working for a delivery company, I know differently, save yourself the hassle, buy some other brand.
- Other Thoughts: Don't take this as a comment about Newegg. They have been terrific throughout this entire problem. I can't recommend them enough, buy your computer here, just buy a computer from another company.
Flawless computer!
- Pros: Great performace from the computer. Card reader is deff. a plus as well as the built in web cam on the monitor. Screen looks great. Most of all though, the acer signal-up technology is great, this laptop picks up more wireless networks than my buddies dell; he can't even see half the networks that are in my list. Battery life isn't that bad.
- Cons: The acer software sucks and slows the computers performance down. HD is partitioned into two partitions, roughly 50GB/ea. I reformatted and put my own copy of vista on it.
- Other Thoughts: If you decide to reformat, like i did, if you don't have a copy of vista make sure you use the acer software to make a recovery cd so that you can put windows back on after reformatting. Also, you can download all of the acer drivers for the touch pad, card reader, HD sound etc. off of acer's website. http://us.acer.com :D I love this computer!!
