Acer's Aspire one is more than a mobile communications platform. Although it does that extremely well. It has built in 802.11b/g and Fast Ethernet connectivity. The built in webcam lets you attend video conferences or have video chats.
A 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor powers the Linpus Linux Lite operating system. An 8GB flash memory drive means you don't have to worry about disk crashes caused by vibrations or drops since it is all solid state.
The Intel GMA 950 processor drives the 8.9" screen. The 1024x600 resolution provides an incredibly detailed image. The Aspire one, for when you need a real computer but don't have a lot of space.

Amazing 2 lbs laptop for the price
- Pros: Price - remarkably inexpensive , Intel Atom processor, very usable near-fullsize keyboard, bright 9" 1024x600 screen, the weight (of course) - just 2 lbs., fast boot time with default OS.
- Cons: Default Linpus linux operating system is not good if you want to use this as a computer rather than a net appliance (but you can replace the OS with Ubuntu 8.0.4.1 very easily), upgrading RAM is a royal pain requiring disassembly of the laptop, touchpad is a bit small.
- Other Thoughts: This is an amazing deal - for little more than the price of an eee 4BG Surf (the 7" screen model) and less than the eee900 (and much less than the eee901), you get a 9" screen, a much better keyboard, and an Intel Atom processor. The default Linpus operating system is no fun (although it's easy for beginners to use - and in fairness, that's obviously what it's designed for) - it resembles the default eee Xandros (also a net appliance type of OS) but is harder to tweak. Fortunately, it's easy to replace the OS with Ubuntu (version 8.04.1, just released, supports the Atom processor), which makes it much more usable (but at the expense of a longer boot). I loved my eee, but the small keyboard on it was a pain. The keyboard on this is much easier to use and has a better feel to it. And Newegg provided its regular superior service - with regular shipping, it was in my hands less than 48 hours after I ordered.
Beautiful Notebook
- Pros: Fantastic Price. Portable as hell. Now I don't have to cart my 10lb monster xps notebook back and forth to work!!
- Cons: 1) I'm sure people have already mentioned, the memory upgrade is tricky. However, just find a youtube video or two detailing it and you should be fine.
2) Linplus isn't the best OS. I replaced it with xubuntu. Much better.
- Other Thoughts: I've read about lots of people modding it to have a bigger faster CF card, USB hub internally, etc. I haven't done this, simply because I haven't seen the need. yet.

Good laptop
- Pros: Great laptop if all you do is surf the web, work with some documents, and use web mail. Everything works right out of the box.
- Cons: Not many. Once and a while it slows down or locks up, but just reboot and everything is fine.
my 1st netbook
- Pros: extremely low price, weight, great looks, attention getter, gets the job done without any modding to the OS, don't have to add any software and it isn't bloated with unnecessary software
- Cons: battery lasts two and a half hours, over sensitive touch pad (yes i adjusted the settings)
- Other Thoughts: i love it, it's a great buy. i have no regrets purchasing it
Perfect travel companion
- Pros: Small, Light, wifi, 2 flash media slots
- Cons: Touchpad, tough to add ram
- Other Thoughts: This is the perfect travel companion. It's compact and light, yet large enough to type on if you don't have big hands. The touchpad leaves a lot to be desired, but other than that, and the ram installation process, I have little to no complaints about the product.
As usual, Newegg has been a pleasure to deal with.
