Never buy from Acer!!
- Pros: Thin.. Light.. Sufficiently fast.. Nice keyboard..
- Cons: There is a limit it how much you can open the LCD screen. I don't understand why they can't allow it to open to say 180 degrees. this one stops at around 100 degrees and so i can't use it with my logitech alto stand.
now to the main issue.. my laptop display stopped working after just 45 days of very very light usage. after ordering this item i heard that this particular model was recalled by acer, but luckily my serial number was not on the list. still some how it went bad..
in order to repair this i have to come up with my own packaging and pay for shipping as well. what the hell!! i have never seen something like this with dell or hp or even with square trade.
besides there is only email support available in US. you can't phone someone and talk about your issues or do any kind of escalations. thats the worst kind of support.
i have mailed acer about the shipping cost, will update on how it goes. for now i have decided never to buy an acer laptop..
Nice laptop with REALLY bad speakers
- Pros: Size, performance, cost
- Cons: Speakers suck
- Other Thoughts: even at 100% in a slightly noisy environment, like a pub in the afternoon you can't hear a thing
Great little machine
- Pros: This machine has provided almost everything my wife needed in a light weight travel computer. It has a very good screen which is plenty bright. It is reasonbly fast operating Windows 7 64bit, running Microsoft Office and Photoshop. It is small and light, making it a perfect travelling companion.
- Cons: The one draw back has been its boot time. When I first got this I thought it may be defective. I have since discovered that you need to allow it 2 1/2 to 3 minutes for it to boot to the login screen in Windows 7. This seems excessive but once up and running it works fine.
- Other Thoughts: It takes a little more work to install software without a DVD but this is something that one doesn't do regularly so this is should not be seen as a negative. I would have given this 5 eggs had it booted more quickly, something the other Windows 7 machines I use do with unbelievable quickness.
