5 out of 5 eggsVIA vs ATOM

Pros: The portability is awesome, and even in the sun the screen is readable. I also have a 1.60GHz ATOM laptop. For media playback, the VIA chipset wins easily. The design so far feels very stable and the screen joints have yet to loosen. Power consumption wise, this sucks A LOT less juice than the ATOM, making this one last a good hour or longer, even while playing 720p video smoothly. I tried video chat and basic video editing on this and it worked surprisingly well.

Cons: Versus the 1.60GHz ATOM based netbook I have, this can't hold par to raw processing. Gaming it's on par with the other, just don't expect many newer games to work on either.

A larger hdd wouldn't hurt, especially for the price that you pay.

Other Thoughts: If you want something more green and you have the money, go for this. I'm amazed how little power this draws, even under full load. If you just want a netbook, get a cheaper ATOM based netbook. This is more on the corporate side, being able to be moved freely and often with no problems, with a longer battery life, and a better screen and audio.

5 out of 5 eggsLoved it - then it was stolen

Pros: If you have a busy life this machine is fantastic, quality, high-end build. It was ok with Vista, it REALLY ROCKS if you put on XP (HP sends disks, no validation needed). I watched tv shows, surfed, wrote, no problem. I could write in the driver seat of the car while waiting, in the middle seat on the plane (with room left on the tray) or while walking around the house multi-tasking.

Cons: Someone broke into my house and stole it - darn portability. Before that it died once. HP sent me a box to ship it back for tech support. Mailed Saturday, received it back Tuesday, worked perfect.

Other Thoughts: If you want lowest price, this isn't the one. If you want style, durability and speed with adequate memory for non-geeks, this is the best by far. Fits in a purse, large fanny pack, with your work laptop in its case.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: anyone who says you can get another netbook for 300 dollars and have the same performance is correct......yeah the atom processor is better than the VIA but who cares those other computers don't have the amazingly crisp and color-rich screen this thing has and none of them enjoy gigabit lan, a 7200rpm hard drive and (heres a shocker) decent speakers! a lot of them dont even have 2GB of ram!

Cons: if this had an atom........my life would be complete, it does have a lot of great features to offset that though

Other Thoughts: i work with servers and networks so the small size and great connectivity this laptop has looked great to me and that is why i bought it. it is not my first pc and no one should use this as their main computer if they are into photo editing or video editing or gaming or stuff......this is strictly for travel or working in an enviorment that requires you to move around a lot

1 out of 5 eggsYou must be joking.

Pros: You people must be joking. Why would you pay $830 for a much slower and larger netbook when you can buy a faster and smaller one with a better battery for only $350?

The people who bought this and came back to write a review about how good it is must not have heard of the Asus or Acer netbooks. Or they must be real HP lovers.

Cons: This is madness.

1 out of 5 eggsSteer Clear

Pros: Small durable skin and easy to work with in small areas.

Cons: Don't be over 38 to see the screen, way small and hard to read. Totally cooked the motherboard after 6 months of use. It's in the shop now. I read online some others are having the same issue. I've had a ton of books and none of them crocked the way this one did. Watch out!!

Other Thoughts: Don't buy it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome, but change the OS

Pros: This laptop has a very good display, sound, battery, etc. It is very rigid and has already dealt with some significant blows. Once I got Ubuntu running with a custom compiled kernel, it has been very performant. Compiling a kernel for VIA's C7 architecture type is totally worth the trouble. Power management is also very good. On the large battery I can get up to 5 hrs of life from it if I'm conservative with my CPU usage.

Cons: Driver support isn't too hot. I highly reccomend either Windows XP or a very easily customized linux distro. Recompiling with the latest kernel sources under Ubuntu has yielded a very high performance development laptop that I can use for travel or home.

Other Thoughts: This is really a great machine, if you want full scale laptop performance and capacity on a smaller form factor, this is an awesome machine.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Concept for a Travel Laptop

Pros: My overall impression of this laptop is that it is a great travel laptop for those of us that only want to check emails and some productive Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc... Perhaps a little more. But, thats all.. This is however very compact and sturdy.

Cons: This machine is definitely not for gaming on the road. But, like the other blogs, this laptop gets very hot and my laptop shut down and would not fully boot up again. I had a cooling pad underneath and it went belly up on me. I would get the power light come on and nothing else. So, I got an RMA to replace this dud laptop and hoping to get a really good functional one. I just hope it was just one of those lemons out of the litter. I really like the laptop design, etc... So, here is to hoping I get a good one...

Other Thoughts: Newegg.com has a very responsive customer service. I asked to get this laptop changed due to it being defective and I got an RMA# very quick and sent it back and just awaiting a replacement. I am satisfied so far.

4 out of 5 eggsToo bad it comes with Vista

Pros: It's absolutely tiny. This is the version with the extended battery, which is nice for a couple reasons. First, obviously the battery lasts much longer. With the screen kinda dim, wireless off, just taking notes, you will be able to squeeze between 5 and 6 hours out of it. With wireless on, you are looking at 4, with wireless on, and actively doing stuff (virus scan, installing programs, updates, ect) you will have between 2 and 2.5 hours of battery. Another nice thing about the extended batter is is lifts the laptop up to put it at a more comfortable angle to type at.

Extremely well built. I've never seen a laptop that felt this well built before EVER.

Keyboard is excelent.

2 GB of ram in a NETBOOK!!

Brushed alluminum doesn't wear like every other laptop that I have ever owned

Cons: Has a VIA processor. Which is nice because it's easy on the battery, but it's also extremely slow to start up. I'm talking like 4-5 minutes. Don't ever shut it down completely, just hibernate or sleep it.

Has a really hard time playing full screen flash content. Youtube is a perfect example. Videos are choppy. Has no problem playing 720p mp4 files though, so I am guessing this is more that Flash Player just sucks than anything. Look for a 3rd party replacement to flash player and you will be ok.

Does get fairly hot after long usage, but what laptop doesn't? Plus the extended battery keeps it up a little way so it gets some more ventilation.

The way that the battery protrudes makes it very hard to type with it on your lap, you really need to either find a coffee table, or spend an hour finding the right position for it to work.

Mouse buttons on the side can be weird getting used to, but after an hour, they are ok. That being said the mouse does seem.... weird at times, {cont

Other Thoughts: it is overly sensitive one day, and then not sensitive at all the next day.

Because of that, and because of the fact that the computer has bluetooth, I would highly recommend getting one of the Mogo mice. This has an express card 54 slot so you can have the smallest laptop around, AND your mouse will store and recharge inside it.

All and all I would do it again in a heartbeat, just wish the price was a little lower.

Scores a 2.0 on the vista rating scale.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Mobility

Pros: Excellent keyboard for such a small form factor. The performance is more than adequate for productivity software, allowing multitasking between Word, Outlook etc. without significant lag. Good battery life (with 6-cell) allows 2-3 hours of use running WIFI & Bluetooth. The notebook is extremely durable thanks to the aluminum construction, and fits perfectly within a 10" portable DVD player case. Finally, the common complaints of high temperature are not due to an overheating CPU, but to the high conductivity of the case. This notebook is one huge heatsink!

Cons: High amount of screen glare - this is a trade-off due to a more durable display. LCD cannot be open flat. Not a major issue though a greater angle would help to reduce glare.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended for the mobile professional or education. The HP2133 is ideal for students who cannot comfortably use a full sized notebook on tiny, individual desks

5 out of 5 eggsoverall great

Pros: it is the smallest, lightest, most stylish laptop ive ever used. the screen is easy to read and the battery is not as big as people say it is, but it does last a long time

Cons: the processor makes me appreciate my OC'd core 2 quad in my gaming pc

Other Thoughts: dont make this your main computer. it is slow for anything other than standard interent and office stuff.
