Affordable gaming laptop
- Pros: I purchased this laptop after a lot of research on other namebrand gaming laptops. I just couldnot rationalize spending $2000 plus on a laptop just for the name, if you are a gamer you know what companies I am talking about. This machine runs Company of Heroes, BF2, WOW, Silent Hunter 3, and Half Life 2 very well. Graphics wise all of these were either maxed out or almost maxed out and the framerates are quite good. This thing is wicked fast! And I can still add another gig of ram and a faster harddrive. The built in mic works great for Ventrilo.
Very light compared to my old laptop.
- Cons: Their are only three gripes I have with this lappy. There is Limited resolution, the highest I can run at is 1280 * 800 and this still looks awesome!
The speakers are VERY tinny, but I use headphones for the most part.
There is no com port, I am a Cisco engineer and I work on routers and pix's and having a console port is a must, but I got this lappy for gaming not work.
- Other Thoughts: Great gaming laptop for the price.
Great Gaming Notebook.
- Pros: Powerful graphics card with a ton of RAM (512) in a notebook. Great CPU, great screen. Looks great, has next gen ports for practically everything.
- Cons: My internal wireless card does not work properly. It will connect to the network, then drop, then connect, then drop, etc. I've tried it with multiple routers, so I know it is the card. I don't want to return the whole laptop for that, so I'm probably going to stick with a USB or newer gen PC card for the wireless. Even with the bad internal wireless card, I still give this comp a 5 star (because I realize that's a fluke).
- Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop pretty specifically to be powerful enought to play World of Warcraft. It does the job extremely well. I hit the current 64fps cap (from a dual core CPU bug with WoW right now) almost everywhere. Ironforge with lots of people is no problem for this thing and a broadband connection. Never sub 30fps. Excellent performer.

Not Good!
- Pros: It's a notebook that is really good until you decide to disable the gigabit network adapter
- Cons: Once you disable the gigabit network adapter you must reinstall the OS in order to get it back again. Even then, you better not disable it again or you will once again have to reinstall the OS to get it back. Asus knows about this and says they have a permanaent solution but I have to pay to ship it to them. I have had this thing 2 days and they will not pay for the shipping to fix this crud.
- Other Thoughts: Buy something else!
Good Speed for the money
- Pros: The speed on this laptop may not be the best but it sure can hold its own. runs F.E.A.R. flawlessly and any other recent game i have it hacks right through it. Good performance for the money. You can easily spend 2000 for the same laptop different brand.
- Cons: Sound went out right away. Plugged in headphones and built in speakers dont work anymore.COmmon issue i gues but still not very convienient.
Sound Fixed
- Pros: Fixed sound with the latest driver from the Asus website. It works/sounds great now. Revising my 4-Egg to a 5-Egg rating.
