Nice Laptop, but some issues with drivers

Pros: Overall, this is a great laptop for the price. The screen looks awesome, and the build of this unit is of top quality. It has no problem handling everyday applications like Office. The keyboard is very responsive and comfortable to use, but the touchpad leaves much to be desired. Webcam quality is decent, and I haven't tried the microphone yet. Not overbloated with software which is a major plus. Some of the software included is actually fairly good. Video quality is great when watching movies too.

Cons: I have had very little cons of this unit until I tried running BF 2. The audio repeatedly kept skipping and my fps second was horribly low. I was very surprised to confront these issues with such a high end card for a laptop. ATI currently has no support link on their site for this card to have access to downloads and patches. I will be contacting them to hopefully find out what is the issue, and I will also try installing all the patches for the game.

Other Thoughts: This is just another good all around laptop for any user. Enough power to do the basics, and also enough for entertainment purposes. XP pro qualifies for the Vista Business Edition upgrade, but I will try to make a request for the Home Premium version since I have a video card that can make full use of Media Center. This is a powerful laptop for the price, and I would definitely recommend it. Just be careful with BF2. I did some research, and it looks like others are having similar problems.

Beautiful Laptop

Pros: Very high quality. Everything about this laptop is super. I couldn't be more happy with it. Remarkable graphics. TV with the Hauppauge PVR TV and DVD movies are the high points. I'm so glad I decided to spend a little more and get the faster processor and dedicated video card. Wi-Fi is blazing at 54Mbps. In my opinion this is one great deal. Asus is completely dependable and Newegg is a great company to offer this notebook at such a nice price.

Cons: Had to convert the FAT 32 to NTFS which was easy with the shortcut Asus provided. Had to delete the extra partition. I used Easeus partition manager 1.6.1 and allocated the space to one drive only. To many programs with not enough documentation. Took about a week to sift through the nonsense. Blue tooth mouse seems slow to start up not sure if its the mouse, the built in bluetooth or the start up programs that are delaying the movement by about 30 seconds. Battery life is not 4 hours with the 6 cell li-on. Its more like 2 hours and 15 minutes in high power mode. 9 cell li-on for this notebook are not findable yet.

Other Thoughts: All in all this is one powerful, state of the art serious notebook. I hook this baby up to my 40 inch Samsung LCD HDTV and surf the net. For me it's a blazing computer. Compared with other brands this model is a complete bargain but the quality is just as high. Why should I pay $4000 for a Voo-doo?
