Pros: Texture and finish on the case is nice. Screen is easy to look at. Its a great laptop for movies and online video. HD is pre-partitioned: 80GB for the system and 200 as a DATA partition (That is what it is labeled). You lose some HD size of course to the restore software. With WIN7, 4GB RAM and a dual-core 2.2GHz processor this is a nice all around machine.
Cons: Case looks pretty, but a bit prone to fingerprint smudges, not bad, but still a con. No backup/restore disks included. I really really wish this was not the norm. Gimme the full HD that I pay for and it probably would only take 1 or maybe 2 DVDs max for all the software. Just remember to make a restore disk first thing. This comes with some bloat'ish ware...hard to find anything that doesnt these days. Takes a few minutes to uninstall.
Other Thoughts: I bought one and I am having my parents buy one. How much more of a recommendation can I give?

Good Bang for the buck

Pros: This is my "toy" computer but does all the "normal" computing tasks one can ask for. M$Office 2010 runs well (as does Open Office); browsing, email, etc., all fine. Excellent screen for average computer use. Videos/DVDs: above average appearance with the "Splendid" utility set to "Theater". Typically about 4hrs runtime on battery. All-in-all, a very nice lil laptop for $500--certainly as good as many costing a couple of hundred more. Purchased it from Newegg and appreciated the quick delivery, of course.
Cons: The keyboard's a wee tad on the cheesy side--just a tad. I wouldn't be surprised if I had to replace it before my warranty's up--or at least well within the lifetime of the computer. Other negatives: definitely cheesy speakers (but I prefer a set of Sony noise-canceling headphones for notebook use, anyway, so after my first experience with the speakers and a movie, it's not bothered me). Crapware. Nothing PC Decrapify ca't deal with, but not a plus, IMO.
Other Thoughts: I don't do gaming, so this is very nearly a replacement for my main desktop. SquareTrade notes that Asus notebooks have the best reliability record of those notebooks it deals with, and my "test" questions to Asus support have been dealt with promptly, courteously and efficiently. I often host a couple of VMs on this lil lappy while other things are running in Win7 as well and I've yet to strain the thing. Nice lil computer. Now, all I need to do it attach an external TV tuner and... ;-)

Pros: Textured outside AND inside, I prefer this over glossy anyday. For the price: great CPU, RAM, and HDD Win7 64bit Trackpad not textured in anyway, and trackpad buttons are. both plusses. Small charger, with right angle plug into the laptop. Good batt life, with 4 power modes to choose from
Cons: BAD Speakers Audio out plug has slight interference Messed up stock partition. 80gigs for OS, and the rest data. Large icons appear when you change volume or brightness I've seen slight LCD Snow, it disappeared after shutting down for awhile. Mouse trackpad isnt in center of laptop. Bad Video Card
Other Thoughts: For the money it's a okay laptop. The amount of RAM and CPU allow it to use most programs at a tidy speed. Due to the Video card, its not going to be playing any current generation games. but it can run WoW.
But if music is your thing, avoid this laptop, even with headphones this laptop is a bad choice..
