Step up from your stock cooling fan and heatsink to the ASUS K8A1-8SB3 cooler. Designed for use with Socket 754, 939, and 940 AMD processors, the extruded aluminum heatsink and fins provide the cooling performance you need to keep your desktop running cool under the hottest workload.

A long-life, SuperFlo bearing 80mm fan quickly draws heat away from the cooler's high-density fins at 3,000rpm. The unit installs in minutes; just apply thermal paste and clip the assembly into place on your motherboard. A simple, standard 3-pin connection on your motherboard delivers power.

  • newegg Efficient Sink Design The complete aluminum heatsink is designed to deliver excellent cooling performance and a light overall weight.
  • newegg Broad Compatibility with the AMD CPU Family Compatible with Socket 754, 939 and 940, the ASUS K8A1-8SB3 works with a wide range of AMD K8 CPUs including all Athlon 64 series and Sempron CPUs, as well as Athlon 64 X2 CPUs (up to TDP 89W).

5 out of 5 eggsLook no Further

Pros: Bought it for my brother's 939/ASUS N32-Deluxe, his boards runs warm anyhow, so I put it on my Sempron 2600+ OC 2.0GHz and it was amazing. I bought the AMD 3200+ 754 from Newegg 2 weeks ago. OC that to 2.6GHz and it is at 29C as I write this review and after breaking in (3 days) has never gone over 46C after hours of heavy gaming. Core temp idles at 34 C and never goes over 49 C after gaming. Sometimes it even runs at same temp as my motherboard, they both just droped to 28 (and I'm a slow typist). Installed w/o instructions too..Genius

Cons: Now I have to build another PC so I can use the CPU/HSF that were replaced with the $$ saved after getting this HSF.

Other Thoughts: If you want to upgrade and save money, this was my ticket. Sempron 2600+ with stock HSF. Upgraded to AMD 3200+ (36.00/ with 10.00 credit) and this HSF for nine bucks. Total 45.00+Ship, I made out like a Bandit and I went from 2.0GHz to 2.6GHz and running cooler than ever. Buy It, if you don't like it, I'll buy it from you. equiprep@hotmail.com

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cheap Cooler

Pros: Excellent Cooler, no thermal paste needed. Just drop it on the CPU and lock it. Keeps My AMD Athlon 64 4000+ at a cool and constant 85^F.

Cons: Doesn't do laundry.

Other Thoughts: Great Buy. Would do it again.

4 out of 5 eggsGood hsf for the price

Pros: I bought this for an OEM AMD Athlon 64 4000 and it works great. The temps stay low but I'm not overclocking either. The main thing that I liked was that it is very quiet. The HSF installed easily (almost too easily) to the Winfast/Foxconn board I'm using.

Cons: It didn't feel as if I was going to break the motherboard when installing it. I know that really isn't a 'con' per se, but it was just weird how easy it was to install.

Other Thoughts: If buying an OEM AMD processor, this HSF will work great. I can't say how well it does when pushing the FSB, but at stock speeds this is the way to go.

5 out of 5 eggsPut it on A 754 Socket

Pros: I ordered it for my brothers 939/ASUS motherboard. But that board runs abit on the warm side. So I tried it on my 754 2600+ Sempron and it is a chiller. I was able to maintain OC at 2.07GHz from 1.60. Never gets over 48C under heavy loading and below 36C normally.

Cons: A tight fit onto the 754. But it was made for the 939. Not really a con. The brackets could have been made with three slots to pull down on. So as not to put too much for on the center holder and spread the tension more evenly.

Other Thoughts: This cooler is a steal at the price and quit. Use Artic Silver and give it time (couple days)to breakin and your CPU will be happy.

5 out of 5 eggsOh My Gosh

Pros: This Baby is Quiet and keeps my Athlon64 4000+ less than 40c while running Prime95. Even with no Artic Silver, the compound on the Heat Sink does the job Great.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you have small ones with fingers around, it would be nice to put an 80mm grill on top.

5 out of 5 eggsOf course it works, it's a heatsink....

Pros: It is a heatsink, and the fan spins, so it works.

Cons: They charged me for it. Free would be sweet.

Other Thoughts: Okay, here's the deal, if you need instructions for a heatsink, like home skillet below, you probably shouldn't be building computers. Post your address, so I can come there and hit you in the head with a tack hammer, because you are a re-tard.

3 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for.

Pros: Feels solid.

Cons: On an OEM Athlon 64 4000+ in a Thermaltake Matrix case (good airflow), I'm getting 42 C idle with an ambient temperature of 33 C using the stock compound. Clearly visible under the clear plastic wrapper, the white thermal compound had cardboard? dust stuck to it.

Other Thoughts: I'll be buying a more eexpensive copper cooler shortly.
