Asus has designed their top of the line "square" series to maximize performance, ease-of-installation, quietness, reliability and even the aesthetics while reducing the level of heat of your CPU. The Silent Square Pro supports Intel's Core 2 Extreme/Duo along with other LGA775 processors and Socket 478 CPUs. AMD's socket 754, 939, 940 and AM2 CPU's are supported as well.
The bright orange cladding directs the airflow off the twin columns of dual-sided aluminum fins. The fins themselves are given a wave-shaped profile that does more than add style – it increases the surface area to maximize cooling. Five copper heat pipes draw heat from the CPU and the Sunon 90mm 2500 RPM fan is nestled at the core of the cooler to both cool the CPU more efficiently, as well as to muffle the sound of the fan.
Installation is a snap using the included brackets and backplates designed to match your specific motherboard. A drivebay monitor and fan controller is included to let you optimize your fan speed for maximum balance between sound and performance.

Great Cooling
- Pros: So I finaly got this after much anticipation, I open the box and there it is. Beautiful color and very attractive piece to you rig. But was this really worth it? I slapped the sucker in on my Maximus Formula Board with an Intel E8400 and i noticed a big cooling decrease. I normaly stay at around 55c @ idle and 63 peak but this thing took it all the way down to 40c and 50 peak. In my view this was definately worth the price and wait. The block not only looks cool and make you want to touch it, but it also stays quiet even at peak. I could barely hear a wisper out of this thing and sometimes wonder if its even running under some kind of voodoo magic. I never really had great experience with heat pipes and stuff but this one definately did it for me. Will buy again when I build another!
- Cons: Better have room for it.
- Other Thoughts: Best price for the performance and cooling decrease.
It's okay
- Pros: Well i bought this cooler because i had no choice, i went to microc3nter and this is the best cooler they had, i was looking for the zalman 9700 or the Brackets for it..
Well here's my result, my Q6600 @ 3.6 GHZ runs at 64ºC under load with artic silver thermal paste.
Currently my q6600 is running at 3.2 Ghz constantly, 33-39 on Idle [varies by cores]
- Cons: It's big, but it fits my Antec 900,
TIPTIP: FOR THOSE PEOPLE WITH A MID SIZE CASE, MAKE SURE U PLUG THE POWER ON THE TOP LEFT CORNER, rather it's a 8 Pinner or 6 pin or Molex, plug it in first, because when you screw the motherboard in with the cooler, you'll have a HARD time trying to plug the power in.
I also dislike the color. but what is there to complain about, great cooling at least.
- Other Thoughts: Switching the Fan inside the Asus product, but that'll risk breaking the cooler. If you need more information aboutt his product, just go to Overclock_net and type in xtacized on the search box, i have the temperature posted for my q6600 at 3.6 under load and understock speed.
And uh, my processor ran 1.4625 V, so that's pretty high.

DOES WORK WITH M3N-HT Deluxe
- Pros: Easy to install on the board. This is our 10th build. For this system it dropped the temperature from 55c to 51c at peak usage during 48 person matches on COD4 and Crysis (Ran for two hours straight in both games to get temp readings). We re-built this system and Upgraded from the Thermaltake V1 to this cooler (And several other items). Loved the V1, but this cooler is half the noise level and moves more air creating a cooler operational temperature under all levels of use. This system was built for gaming… We did not want to her the computer, and the CPU cooler had been the noisiest fan in the case. We have 5 120m fans, on Antec spot fan (for the inlets on the back of the GTX280) and one 80m, VERY quiet case now… all run on low… Great airflow..
- Cons: NONE! If you have not seen one of these in person, it is far bigger than guessed. Fits great in my full size case.
- Other Thoughts: We flipped the MOBO. BTX Style if you will. (We slid out the MOBO tray from the rear left side of the case flipped it 180deg and slid it into the rear right side) This dropped the CPU temp 5C in normal use. For those who have the ability to flip the MOBO tray and do not want to try water and want to stay with air. I HIGHLY recommend this. I then removed the fans and re-installed them so the air moved in the opposite direction they did from the factory. Now the rear fan rams air straight onto the CPU cooling fins, then strait to the RAM and finally right into the front fan and out of the case. The warm air does not have the ability to hang around and get hotter this way. None of the cables that block the airflow are in the way, and now the heat rises away from the CPU and the RAM instead of towards them. This also solved cable length issues and ugly wires everywhere. Computer building is not Lego’s! It takes time and patience. Not brawn and force. Good luck and enjoy your systems! We p
Working Better
- Pros: Before I had a Logisys 650 watt PSU that didn't have enough power to power up the fan as well and only when to 2160RPM 34C or 36C but now I have a IGMATEK 650 Watt PSU and it has power it up too 2400 RPM and it cooling great, But the best part about is that it keeps the cpu at 30C or 28C
- Cons: heavy on the mobo and cpu,
- Other Thoughts: I will recommend this product to a friend
Good
- Pros: The CPU cooler does exactly as it says it does. I overclocked my quad 2.4 to 3.0 and it is running at 50 degrees celcius at max.
- Cons: It was a difficult task putting it in with my DFI lan party x48 with the chipset cooler around it. I got it in but had to force it a little.
- Other Thoughts: I would have gotten a different motherboard or CPU cooler if I would have known it was going to be such a pain to put in.
