5 out of 5 eggsNot the right kind of slot

Pros: Looks like a jet engine.

Cons: Not the right slot for my M/B.

Other Thoughts: It's very solid, very excellent and very heavy fan. I didn't get the right fan for my mobo, but that's my fault.

5 out of 5 eggsStar Ice is Cooool

Pros: Keeps my Intel 3.6 P4 800FSB processor at 42 DEGREES Celsius! The normal intel heatsink in the retail packaging was not good enough. My computer kept on shutting off due to overheating whenever i played a game or did something intensive. This thing is huge and adds a lot of weight to your computer, but it works!

Cons: Heavy, sounds like a turbine engine, but bearable. I get used to the droning noise of it after a minute of turning it on. Hard to install. You can tell a bunch of foreign people made this manual or something because of a some typos.

Other Thoughts: It works awesome. I was skeptical at first, but Star Ice proved itself. Worth every dollar! saved my $400.00 retail processor from burning up. Great investment.

5 out of 5 eggsJEEEEZZZUS!

Pros: This product cools better than anything ive ever installed in any machine! Large, and heavy, but if installed properly, GREAT! - im using it on a K8 MSI board (some people claim it wont fit with the ram, but i had no problems). Installing properly is the key, try to use ur own backplate if possible!

Cons: takes a little of time to install. Takes up alot of space, and slightly noisy (not too bad, and it has a 'dial a speed')

Other Thoughts: NEWEGG is the only way to go! Fastest service and best products and prices on the market! I shop no other way!

5 out of 5 eggsWOW!!!

Pros: When I forst received this heatsink I was shocked at the size of it. Don't Be fooled about how big it is because it will definitely pulls its weight in performance and then some. I've got a P4EE 3.73 and with the stock heatsink it's hot; 83 DEGREES HOT!!! I installed this thing and it took the heat way off. If you put a little extra thermal paste on the pad it will make a big difference. I'm now running this CPU at about 25 degrees celcius. THAT"S AMAZING!!! No lie this is the best heatsink I've aver bought. (Performance wise)

Cons: There were a few design flaws in this structure. First off, the thing is like 4 lbs.! That's WAY TOO MUCH! Aside from the weight IT WILL NOT FIT IN THE CASE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN ASUS MOTHERBOARD!! I have found this to be true as i've tested it on an Abit, Aopen, and an MSI. It never fit on any of them. It will hit the RAM dimm and the PSU. That's about it for the bad stuff.

Other Thoughts: Even though it's a clunker, like I said before, it will pull its weight in performance and then some. Also make sure it is properly mounted. If it is not it will put extra strain on the motherboard, and could possibly crack it. Other than that BUY IT, FAST SHIPPING, AND NEWEGG IS THE BOMB!

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: Dropped my temps about 10+ degrees celcius under full and no load. Fan controller which can make it sound like a jet engine, or a low murmur. Not too bright and with no window only a few cuts in my side panel not alot of light.

Cons: The hardware contained did not fit for installation. I had to jerry-rig the install to work properly. Good thing I had some old mounting hardware from an old hs/fan.

Other Thoughts: Well I bought this for the simple fact that I purchased the Thermaltake copper tower, and the package was incomplete (not a new egg purchase for the thermaltake.) I finally hooked up after three months or so of having it sit on my entertainment stand. It out performs the thermaltake by dropping my idle temps to low 30s or under 30 celcius. The thermaltake would put it up to 50+ celcius under full load, doing video editing with this bad boy installed is under 50 degrees. Impressed highly impressed. Keep on working with new technologies.

4 out of 5 eggscool so well, why so loud?

Comments: ok first off let me say how great New Egg is there the best. Now as for this cool it cools better than anything i've ever owned. only draw back is that even at stock fan speeds this cool falls just short of landing a jet fighter on an aircraft carrier. Keep in mind this was with an add

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: i installed this for a customer who was overclocking his machine and his temp was about 57 celsius, after the install it sat around 32 celsius. excellent fan, just remember you will have to remove EVERYTING since the mobo has to come out to install the bracket on most cases.

4 out of 5 eggsSome Information Before You Buy...

Comments: I am currently in the process of returning/exchanging this fan because 2 of its blades broke when the tip of an unused power connecter brushed against it. Note: I am assuming this scenario since I did not see anything actually happen. I only heard the noise, turned off the computer and saw two missing fan blades. The main fan is either extremely fast or extremely brittle (or both). In previous experiences of rubbing against fans never have I had blades break off. I am surprised that since this thing is so big, fast, and apparently brittle, that there is not a protective grill.

Also, if you have an 80mm fan attached to the back of your case you will most likely not be able to attach the second fan on this heatsink.

I also recommend buying some Artic Silver 5 thermal compound. What is the use of getting the expensive fan just to use stock silicon based thermal compound?

When I get my fan exchanged and working with my computer I might post an update review.

5 out of 5 eggshonestly...

Comments: i dont own this, and im not reviewing it, but to the guy whos screw broke...
WHY WOULD YOU RUN YOUR COMPUTER WITHOUT YOUR HEATSINK SEATED PROPERLY? Unless you've got so much money laying around that burning up a processor, and having to spend a couple hundred on a new one isnt a problem, you really should have just RMAed your heatsink and used stock until then.
If you are ever even slightly suspicious that your heatsink isnt applying an even ammount of pressure across your processor, dont risk it, take it off, look at it, and seat it again. Well unless like i said, you like risking destroying one of the most expensive components of your computer...

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Comments: "Wow" was the first thing i thought when i got this thing out of the package. This thing is a beast! To give you a visual, its almost twice as big as a full sized softball. But it's well worth it. This thing took my Intel 3.2e from 78-80C at full load to 38-40C full load! Thats a 40 degree difference! Now I don't have to worry about heat anymore. Although installation took quite some time, and because the instructions aren't color, its hard to tell between piece # 9 and 10. The black foam piece is #10. Plus you can add another fan to the back for this thing for increased airflow which makes this thing unreal!
