Step up from your processor's stock AMD heatsink-and-fan assembly with Thermaltake's Venus 12 CPU cooler. Designed for use with AMD Opteron and Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX, and Sempron Socket 754 processors, the all-copper heatsink is made up of a high density of 73 fins for optimum heat dissipation. A simple clip mechanism means you won't have to get underneath your motherboard to install this cooler.
The 80mm fan features a unique triple-blade design that increases air flow and eliminates air turbulence. The dual ball-bearing design extends the life span of the fan, giving it the ability to keep working for up to 80,000 hours. The fan can be run at its full 5,500rpm speed or connected to a temperature sensor that will spin the fan at 2,000rpm when the case is at 20-degrees Celsius and speed up to 5,500rpm when the case reaches 55-degrees Celsius. You also have the option of manually controlling the fan speed via a control knob mounted in a 3.5-inch bay up front or a vacant PCI slot in back.
Keep cool!

Works great, use the manual fan control
- Pros: It works great. Mine runs almorst 24/7 for months with no problems. An average of 8 (celcius) difference from stock Intel cooler.
- Cons: It can get loud. I use the manual dial control and rarely have to turn it up more than 50%.
- Other Thoughts: Just keep the fins clean of dust and it will work great.
Great Value
- Pros: This thing cools like a pro. It brought my 5000+ CPU down From 52C+ to about 42C on full load (thats with the RPMs clocked.) Has a range of 2198 RPMs to 5720 RPMs. from about 3000- its a low hum.
- Cons: Ever ride on a 747, well it sounds about like that at max speed. you'll only ever really need that for when your overclocking or working your processor hard. Also this isn't a petting zoo. Don't touch the fan when its running fast, it will HURT. I'm sure you read the posts about that and i don't doubt it.
- Other Thoughts: its still audible at 3000 RPMs but its less than half of the full speed. I think im going to invest in some sound dampening foam that will probably cure any noise problems with this or any other fans in my case.

- Pros: none
- Cons: It does not work with the AMD 939 socket the heat sink does not fit in the slot
Did not cool as expected, very loud fan
- Pros: 100% Copper HS, Variable speed Fan, Thermaltake is a leader in high end HSF. Easy to install, about the same dimentions as the stock HSF.
- Cons: Did not acceptably cool my AMD 939 Dual Core CPU. Very noisy at highest speed.
- Other Thoughts: Confused as to why this did not cool my CPU well. It was installed correctly, and working, as when I lowered Fan speed, temps went up, and when I raised Fan speed, temps went down, but still, the venus 12 did not cool my CPU enough. I installed another HSF (purchased and reviewed at NewEgg) and temps went down at least 10 C.
