nMEDIAPC ICETANK 90mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler

Pros: Used this to repair/replace a broken socket 478 heat sink, where the tabs had snapped off the motherboard's plastic ring. The plastic ring that comes with this cooler replaces the part on the motherboard, a quick fix for others with my same problem.

Cons: Installation diagram was vague. The factory 478 ring must be removed, and the plastic "X" on the back side of the motherboard must be removed as well. When installing the nMEDIA ring, you must use the four pegs which press in place through the holes where the 478's screws were removed.

Other Thoughts: A little improvement on the instructions would be great. I found the fan controller unnecessary---its not very loud on the highest setting in my box.

Pros: Copper core, big fan, reostat, SILENT on max speed setting. Runns consistent CPU temp of 29C running 7 heavy programs, and 27C idle.

Cons: I didn't design it.

Other Thoughts: Be sure you have the room

Pros: This product is 1 of the best cooling systems for the money. I have an AMD x2 5200+ Duel Core (2.6 Ghz) Socket AM2. It is overclocked to 2.99 Ghz and still runs at 36c at idle and not over 42c under load (running Joint Operations, NFS Carbon, Guild Wars etc...)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this product to anyone.

Pros: I too am someone who builds computers and this fan was one of the easiest to hook up, I have the rheostat turned all the way down and my 2.8 clocked to 3.0 runs at 84/30* F/C in room temp of 70* and thats what I call cool running at low speed

Cons: Little bulky but there are others that are alot bigger

Pros: If you crank the fan speed up high enough, it does a decent job of cooling the CPU.

Cons: A 4-pin plug for the fan would make it compatible with the nMediaPC 280 case though this is really the case's fault. Still a 4-pin plug would be better. Once I installed the Corsair 520HX in my case, this became the loudest component. The heat sink does not perform well unless the fan is turned up. Cool and quiet is the name of the game in HTPCs and this thing isn't quite good enough for my AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (65W).

Other Thoughts: I bought it because I new it would fit in my nMediaPC 280 case. It barely fits leaving less than a half-centimeter of clearance between it and the cover.

Pros: I am someone that builds computers and knows way around. When purchased this fan made sure it fits the specs. So this is by no means a slant opinion. The fan is large, bulky and did not fit on my motherboard. The motherboard on this system was not greatest shape as it was. But the clips broke the socket from this fan. Every time when I build a new box save the "Company" that provides the parts. This fan company will be blacklisted by me. Major Design flaws in the product. Given me a fast opinion of it.

Well it did give me a good reason to build a new linux computer system. But do not recommend this fan it looks very sophisticated but not really geometric. The Engineers did not design the heat sink itself smartly. It should not be drawing away from the socket with big metal spikes. The bulk of it is the main problem.

Cons: Mostly everything but the look. It was not tweaked or forced. Although did get the heat compound on the blades after fiddling. 1,000 percent sure it was not my fault for what happened. Given by my assembly skills with computers.

Other Thoughts: Going to shop newegg now for new hardware parts. The salvaged ones graphic card, network card, and the burners and hard disk. The ram probably is bit slow by todays standards just going to go all new their. Faster response and all that, the case going to replace it too the airflow and quiet db was reason got this fan in first place.

Pros: Dropped high temp from 79ºC to 53º. It's quiet at full speed and silent at low speed. Comes with a rheostat for adjustable speed. Looks

Cons: Really REALLY big!!! Pretty heavy too.

Other Thoughts: When I installed the HSF, it took entirely too long because I had to bend an inductor afer removing the motherboard. I have a PT880 Neo with a P4 CPU and though I finally fit in the fan, removal and re-insertion is still difficult. If I had more space around the mounting bracket it would have been easy though; my motherboard is just crowded.
In addition to replacing my stock cooler and Arctic Silver 5, I added Arctic Silver Ceramique, so the huge temperature drop is not solely the fan.
Since the fan is so heavy, I'm scared that a sudden jerk might cause it to snap my board.

Pros: The fan looks cool, it's big. nice price. amd and intel compatible. came with thermal grease, that a plus.

Cons: The fan dosn't draw much airflow. dosn't dispute heat very well. over all It didn't help.

Other Thoughts: I'm runnung a Pentium D 945 and with my stock fan i was getting about 45c, now i get about 55c that not any better people, that sucks, for what i paid i am dissapointed.

I later overclock it a little to 3.5 ghz and my idle temp is 60c. again dissapointed.

Pros: Not as big as some heat pipe coolers, cools my Athlon 64 3500+ with no trouble, even with the rheostat on the lowest setting. VERY easy to install, very high quality and looks really cool! The stock heatsink I replaced would be hot to the touch, this thing is cool to the touch.

Cons: None so far - Will report back if problems

Other Thoughts: I am using this in the Nmedia PC HTPC 100 case, fit with no problem.

Pros: Fairly quiet product, slick design, easy to mount on system board.

Cons: bulky size, difficult removal

Other Thoughts: This cooler kept my AMD Athlon64x2 4600+ running at around 41-42C idle, and around 54C loaded, which is a pretty good performance. However, I can't give it a top rating since the subsequent AC Freezer 64 Pro I bought keeps my CPU at 39-40C and runs a bit quieter. Plus, this HSF takes up more room and I worried about cracking my system board when removing it. It works pretty good, but it does not deserve a top 5 egg rank...maybe 4.5, if that were possible...but, it's capability and design lack compared to other top cooling heatsinks.
