Very good for Socket A
- Pros: Replaced the AMD fan/heatsink with this, dropped the temps on my Athlon XP 3200+ by 20C under load, 25 at idle. One of the few good fan/heatsinks that would fit on my Socket A m/b since it doesn't have any mounting holes. Really easy install for Socket A boards.
- Cons: Instructions don't mention the protective coating, but its something you should always check anyway.
- Other Thoughts: The LED in this is very bright. I keep my computer on 24/7 and with the window in my case it lights up the entire room.
Works well, looks nice
- Pros: I'm going to miss seeing this in my all UV modded case (I just upgraded and can't use it anymore). It's worked quite well to cool my Prescott 3.2 while I overclocked to 3.6 (which is listed as the max for that CPU, I just don't think mine would go any faster, even with better cooling). I also ran two fans, both pointing up. Installation was not that difficult, other than having to pull out the motherboard completely. I would definitely buy it again.
- Cons: When I got it I expected the lights to be darker blue, but this is a pretty light blue. No biggie, just not quite what I expected. Still looks great.
Watch your steps... This one hurts.
- Pros: All copper, not as fat as my wife's Zalman 9500 LCD. I had to give it to her since the Zalman was too big. Sad for me since I wanted it but this one is all copper and lighter + more compact. I figured this was all well and good until...
- Cons: Although it can fit Socket 939, the instructions mention K8 (Socket 754). That set me off that I thought I made a mistake. I had to use my 165lbs of body weight to get this thing to screw into my mobo and although I'm 200% sure it's secure [since I had to almost crush the ****ing retention clip], It's not worth the frustration so -2 eggs on that one. Shame on you Aerocool for making such a pain in the rear to install Retention clip. Socket 939 be worried, it'll fit... Just not easily like Zalman.
- Other Thoughts: It's light, compact, all copper, and I KNOW it's doing it's job since it's VERY hot right now. I know that Arctic Silver 5 takes a while to set in but I used their cleaning system to buff out my DFI Infinity SLi chipset and my Opoteron cpu core. After the thermal grease sets in, I'm hoping it'll cool better. I'm idling 40C on my chipset / system and 50C on the processor. Wayy too hot from before but at least it's near pure Arctic Silver now... ^_^ Will cool in the future I'm sure.
