Enjoy sizzling PC action, without burning up your system in the process, with the Scythe SCNJ-1000P Ninja Plus Cooler! This hi-tech cooling device lends an edgy, industrial look to your PC with its fiery aluminum and copper construction and bold black fan.
An ideal solution for your silent system needs, this cooler affords the user the unique ability to switch between ‘fan’ and ‘fanless’ modes. The unit’s amply sized, sleeve-bearing fan, featuring hefty 120mm blades, makes quick work of harmful thermal energy at the rate of 45-50 cubic feet of air per minute. For computing on the sly, switch to ‘fanless’ mode and let the six performance-engineered heatsink tubes usher heat away quickly and efficiently.
Compatible with socket 478/754/939/940 and LGA775 platforms, this versatile Scythe model was designed to work with just about every modern desktop CPU platform. For ultra-cool protection and forward-thinking style, the Zalman CPU Cooler is the way to go.

broke my mobo
- Pros: a fanless solution: cpu voltage must be at default[standard on most/all mobo]
looks cool as can be. heatpipes very efficient compared to similar heatsinks
- Cons: Too tall for alot of cases. very fragile.
!!!CHEAP AS METAL USED FOR BACKPLATE THAT GOES ON BACK OF MOBO!!!! STICKY LAYER ON BACKPLATE MAKES FOR IMPOSSIBLE REMOVAL!! metal on backplate sucks? yeah the female screw inlet broke away and shorted my new DFI UT dr expert! so pi ssed off
- Other Thoughts: such a great product in certain instances. Why save less than 25cents and supply such cheap metal for A MOUNT!
Ninja !
- Pros: Very easy install on socket 478. Does the Job very well. Lowered my temps on my theraltake xaser tower reading from 104F to 85F in a 70 degree room! Cpu is Idling at 41C and gaming full on at 45C.
No more noisy Cpu fan. I love it. Just a constant sweet hum of cooling Ninj-it-as
- Cons: Putting the fan clips on is weird but not difficult.
- Other Thoughts: took my time about 1 hour. Make sure and buy Arctic Silver don't use lame paste included.

To BadThad
- Pros: None
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: About reviewer BadThad on 12-18-06. I belive he is talking about the SCNJ-1100P not the SCNJ-1000P. Because SCNJ-1100P has push pins the SCNJ-1000P does not.
Poor Design
- Pros: Great at cooling, plenty of reviews to support that.
- Cons: Difficult to install.
- Other Thoughts: Whoever designed the pins to clamp this thing down on the mobo should be tared and feathered. The only way to effectively install it is BEFORE mounting the mobo. However, it'd be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to mount a mobo with this monster attached. It would block access to the stand-off mounts by the rear panel.
I chose to install it after mounting the mobo and it only took me like an hour to get all the pins pushed down because they are nearly impossible to reach. In my case, I had to remove the power supply and uncomfortably contort my hand/fingers to get to the top two pins. BAD BAD DESIGN! After mounting and removing the thing 3 times, it finally worked, but then I decided it was just too large and a PITA to work around as I always work on my system.
They need to re-engineer the push-pin mounting system for a cooler this big. It's nearly impossible for a person with large hands to push those pins down with about a half inch of clearance above them (the fins obstruct the area).
great heatsink
- Pros: Easy install, fantastic cooling, this thing works.
- Cons: My only confusion is that unlike the Zalman, the Scythe is not hot to the touch. This might be because of the (much) greater surface area (thus less concentration of heat) and/or the heat pipe structure, but it's odd to me that my CPU temp is way down and the Scythe is not hot to the touch. Anyway, it works very well and I highly recommend it.
- Other Thoughts: I've built a 'quiet' PC, and I was cooling my 3GHz Intel 875P with a Zalman CNPS6500B-AlCu. While the Zalman had worked ok in the past, I recently made some changes to my system and had to remount it and my cpu was now running temps of 64C, and up to 71C. (my Abit has known probs with absolute temps… it’s stable there). Despite several attempts to remount (figuring that even though the Zalman was hot so it should be conducting heat properly, maybe I wasn't getting a good enough 'seat'... and yes I'm using Artic Silver), I bought the Scythe Ninja. The nominal temperature is now 50-52C *without* the fan. I've run numerous cpu stress tests and the temp doesn't rise much at all. The Scythe Ninja is amazing.
