Scythe SCNJ-1100P 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler

  • 1200 RPM
ICON Loading...

Keep your desktop running cool and quiet with the Scythe SCNJ-1100P Ninja Plus heatsink and fan assembly. For completely silent cooling, the Ninja Plus' powerful heat dissipation is possible thanks to six copper pipes to quickly take heat far away from the processor and disperse it through a series of aluminum fins.

Need even more cooling power? The included optional 120mm fan clips to the side of the cooler and pushes air through the fins, forcing heated air out and away from your processor and the rest of your system’s components. The sleeve-bearing fan is designed for quiet performance, too, spinning at 1,200rpm and creating only 20.94dBA of noise.

The Ninja Plus comes with specially designed brackets and clips to allow you to easily attach it to almost any modern motherboard. Plus, with no back plate necessary, you don't need to take your motherboard out of your case in order to install your new cooler. It works with both Intel and AMD processors including the latest Core 2 Duo and Athlon 64 X2 dual-core models.

  • newegg Support for Fan and Fanless Modes The versatile Scythe SCNJ-1100P supports both fan and fanless modes for top-to-toe CPU cooling with low to zero noise.
  • newegg 6-Heatpipe Design The Scythe SCNJ-1100P's 6 heatpipes maximize heat transfer for superior cooling performance without a fan.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility As an all-in-one solution for PC systems, the Scythe SCNJ-1100P features broad compatibility with all AMD socket 754, 939, 940 and the latest AM2, as well as Intel 478 and 775 platforms.
  • newegg Optional 120mm Fan & Clips Included The Scythe SCNJ-1100P features an optional low-noise 120mm fan and mounting clips to fulfill the needs for high-end low-noise PC systems.
  • newegg Easy Installation The bundled clips enable extremely convenient installation without additional tools or the need to remove the motherboard from your case.

3 out of 5 eggsBig cooler

Pros: It does a decent job of keeping my CPU cool. Included fan is nice.

Cons: Much bigger than I expected, and the mounting hardware doesn't feel secure

Other Thoughts: If I had to do it over again I would probably get a Thermalright over this.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: Bought in '06 to replace the stock Intel aluminum unit. Lots of copper, large, many fins, Cools real well! Used with 120mm fans makes it so much quieter than smaller heat sinks with fast 80mm fans. More than 2 years and cooling nicely and quieter.

Cons: Large could be a con to some people.

Other Thoughts: You better take careful measurements to make sure this thing will fit!!

5 out of 5 eggsIt's large, and effective.

Pros: Keeps the computer cool, with the Antec 900 Case little to no hot air Lingers in the case, it's all out the back and the top.
Perfect fit in the Antec 900 case.

Cons: You gotta remove the motherboard to install the heatsink.
It's super close to the memory modules and the motherboard chipset heatsink

Other Thoughts: I have an XFX Nforce 680i Motherboard installed in an Antec 900 Case. I had to remove the entire motherboard in order to get this baby installed, not a big issue doing so if your cool with the plastic snap clip system. It sits incredibly close to my chip heat-sink, so the only reasonable direction to point the fan for this cpu cooler is straight out the back of the case, which works fantastic.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU fan

Pros: This fan looks great and keeps the CPU cool. I leave all the case sides off and unplug the case fans. CPU and MOBO are always cool!

Cons: Very hard to install, and doesnt fit all mobos. But I think its worth the trouble.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The de-facto standard for passive (or near-passive) cooling. Widely spaced fins are perfect for low-airflow applications.
Includes a fairly quiet fan.

Cons: Retention clip can be a bit stiff.

5 out of 5 eggsA tight fit

Pros: Silent

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: It was a tight fit for my Q9450, Abit ip35-e and my cooler master case but it did fit. I had to replace my Corsair DHX ram for a regular XMS2 set just to fit as the fan has a less than .5cm clearance above DIMM1 and 2. I had to remove the fan duct on my case as there was no way it was going to fit. My temps are less than 30 degrees and in the middle of summer!

5 out of 5 eggskeeps a cool processor with no fan

Pros: This is a great heatsink to keep your multi-cores cool. All of the reviews I read on other websites said to go with this heatsink

Cons: Really Big, make sure it will fit in your case. Be carefull when installing it so you don't break or crack your Mobo.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you buy some heatsink paste like Arctic Silver. It doesn't come with anything.

4 out of 5 eggsWT* happened Scythe

Pros: Good for the 90 watt CPUs and under as the sink can handle low to moderate heat well. In the past, I've kept high performance rigs in the 40Cs.

Cons: Updated design causes poor contact between the sole plate and evaporator pipes limiting this master of sinks to non-enthusiast level. Pervious models had better contact with more heat transfer surface to the upper pipes. Basically the upper pipes may as well be plastic as there is little contact with them. For so much potential, flatten the pipes. I decided to pull this one from a Phenom 9850 and drop the stock sink on (4 piper). Same temps :bulging eyes: Sorry guys, this one is Borked!

Other Thoughts: I've been a big Scythe fan and this revelation floored me. To date I've acquired 4 Ninjas, 1 Ninja Mini (Nini) and a KatanaII. All but this one have served me well for the 90-100 watt CPUs I've used. I was able to improve temps by shoving flattened solid bare copper wire between the tubes with silver heat sink compound. I did this with the Nini on a Phenom 9500 at stock 2.2G 33C idle, 42C running 24/7.
If scythe redid the soleplate to accommodate the curvature of the tubing and better contact to the upper tubing they could upset the TR-UE.
